Mr_P i've not long updated my zumo 500. I think the download is linked to the unlock code installed in the device. It didn't ask you for the s/n which i was sent via E-mail but it does interogate the device. I think if someone else tried to use it they probably couldn't.
just incase anyone is interested in an update of the zumo saga.......
couldnt face anymore conversations about it so left it till just before christmas then spoke to a very nice man who wanted to give me more instructions on how to solve the prob,but to be honest I`d had enough so i sent it back to zumo,they downloaded the maps and I got it back in about a week! It has since worked perfectly in the car, not needed to try it on the bike yet but I`m sure it will be okay,i gave up on the scala rider as it kept cutting out and i now have the moulded earplugs with audio so will let you know how they perform,would be interested to know what others think of them if anyone has them.
