Folks I need opinions from those who are going. There are 2 options... 1) Make it a FREE event - no band on Friday night and it's not members-only2) Charge a fiver - extra band on Friday night and we make it BM members only What do you think??? I thought KISS was a great success being members-only. Simon is concerned that some folks who have their name down for this event wont be happy paying a fiver as it's been advertised as a free event. But let's see what you guys want.... ????

Not sure but I think this is a pub so we could not make it BM only

And if not enough people turn up paying a fiver where does that leave the band?

Yes, option 1 - avoids all the complications associated with option 2.

To put it into context, the venue is a pub and they have live music on the Saturday night which we are free to enjoy alongside their regular customers and other bikers who travel for it. We cannot have exclusive use of the pub at any time however, we can have exclusive use of the function room on the Friday night where there is an option to put our own band in and make a small charge on the door of the function room. This was the original plan however the band I had booked had to pull out, and with little interest in the event I decided to not bother with the band on Friday and make the event free. The interest in this weekend is now growing considerably so a Friday night band may be an option if people don't object to a door charge on the function room to cover the cost of the band. Any profit made from this will be split between the pub's chosen charity and Jackie's fund raising for Make A Wish.

is there any reason why we couldn't have a band on in the function room & just charge £5 entry to anyone who wanted to come in? not just restrict it to BM peeps? & then any profits go to charity? PS - have just posted a lenghty reply to Matt on the FB page about it - I wont repost it here

I must admit, I'm with XK and BM on this one. I think it's the wrong time of year to charge due to the risk with the weather. There is too much risk involved and not having the money to pay the band. It also means I'll have to man the door all night. Sorry Matt, I think we're best off sticking to the original plan, although if anyone can play a guitar and wants to do a bit of busking......or better still we could get an Abba tribute band to play; lol

TBH Simon - I don't think yo have to worry about keeping us entertained - we normally manage to do that all on our own....to the bemusement of the locals usually

I can lend her an ABBA outfit if she wants lol

Am sure folk can amuse themselves, all you need is something to play music on :)
