back onto the karma issue again... IMO seems to me if you post loads of photo's of absolute rubbish which isn't even motorcycle related in your profile you get a whole heap of karma which makes you look like you are the most popular person on here, however if you tag yourself in a whole heap of photo's when you have attended events you get naff all... something not quite right there methinks!

My post was aimed at everybody as a general statement, sometimes discussions such as this one can cause varied and good and bad opinions.

Just trying to stop any madness before it starts with a polite request :)

That can't be right Trish, I've got loads of photos in my albums that aren't biker related and my karma rating is very low Jackie, perhaps you should have added the words 'polite' and 'request' then ya wouldnae confuse us?

I know i'm a newbie but i just don't get why one would want to feel or want to be most popular on a site by a progress bar( karma). I felt that Matts comments were rather rude to non tech people and there are still a few, but seeing as he holds the power i will keep my thoughts to myself

Well as I said if you knew anythink about trucks you would know that the gearboxs is controled by a computa so it pre selects the best gear for the speed and rpm. So all I have to worry about is how many cars I can block or crush

Sandi your right about the pics ... If I remember rightly Matt has it capped at so many uploads as at one point Alex and I had loads uploaded from events as well as personal ones :-)

So for us now doesn't matter what is uploaded it doesn't change our karma ... Even if uploaded to an event that we attend !!!

do we have to quit the site then? reroll and become standard members? Might just reroll as Kermit then

There's not much point in doing that Pots, just logging in daily creates Karma points. It's also not entirely up to us, when someone views our profile that creates Karma too. You'd have to disable your profile or leave altogether to do away with the Karma rating. Wouldn't want you to leave so you (and me) will have to ignore the Karma rating.

Don't see the point in leaving and staying a standard member just cutting your nose off to spite your face

Yesterday I deleted someone's agenda because they had put themselves down for 160 events. If you find someone putting their name down for everything, PM me and I'll delete all their agenda. Isn't this a better option than getting rid of the whole Karma system?!?! Because of 1 person! FYI yesterday I also altered the Karma system to half the value each event has towards Karma. I'm looking at adding extra variables TODAY and also trying to find some way of setting a maximum value for each variable (don't think that's possible though) Does everyone want me to remove the Top 20 lists? Or is it just 1 or 2 of you? Anyone want it to stay? Really I don't mind removing them pages, fine by me, but the Karma system stays. Sandi... don't know why I would have said that, I have NO way of massaging the results! It's a dynamic calculation. The only thing I could have changed for you was Site Staff status which gives extra Karma points. There is NO way I can bump anyone up or down unless I change the whol system. Mandi... the Karma system is ALL a formula and not a whim! There's NOTHING i can do to massage the results (unless I delete someone's PMs, forum posts, etc). Stop being so damn cynical. Bill - glad you want Karma to stay now. But do you see now why I don't bother getting involved in the endless debates about it? And why i just say NO when people ask for it to be removed?!? :-/ So tiring! V... i like the idea of being God. Lets role with that one. lol Shell... you're right. You uploaded LOADS of photo albums and it really ruined the Karma system. So I limited the counting of photos to the Profile Pics album only (any extra albums are excluded). Later today I will be adding a variable for TAGGED event photos and these photos will have a higher weighting than just photos you upload into your profile.

PS: Ignore Karma values today, they are going to be all over the place as I mess with the system to make it more accurate. Going to add some extra variables. Here's some ideas I have (if you think of any more let me know and I'll tell you if they're possible)... Additional Karma for tagging yourself in event photos Reduction in Karma for short forum posts A bigGER Karma increase for larger forum posts Increase in Karma for starting a forum topic, not just posting in it Only counting one PM to each person you send to, rather than every PM you send (same for receiving). I.e if you send 100 PMs to 1 person it's the same as sending 1 to that person Extra karma for adding events to the site Extra karma for uploading event photos (evidences actual event attendance!)

Can i have extra Karma for saying that you look stunning today Boss Man, you should wear that colour more often it goes with your eyes

Personally, cant see what all the fuss is about myself, not quite sure why folks are getting their knickers in a knot about it, when you read stuff posted on the unhappy thread and talk to folk in general, on the grand scheme of things does it really matter.
