Don't think they're speed cameras. Why? Many years ago it was decided that a speed camera must 'look' at a vehicle travelling either towards it or away from it. This is because if the camera 'looks' across the path of travel, the time available to measure the speed is only a fraction of a thousandth of a second. Also speed cameras are required by law to be marked and visible to drivers on the road. So what are they then? In my humble opinion they are traffic flow recorders and are merely the 'break the beam' type which rely on a photo-electric cell(s) to operate.
In my humble opinion I always thought speed cams could never pick up bikes anyway unless they were moby speed ones following em and capturing their back numplates....
Thousands of bikers would disagree wth you on that one, Lulu! Even if they don't pick up your registration plate, if you're being especially naughty, they'll look at the other CCTV cameras you were heading towards and get an ID from them! All CCTV cameras record and save their images and these are held for a fairly long period of time.
I have seen this on Facebook and they are thought to be police radar cameras, which is not quite the same as the normal speed camera. I presume they will have a link to a car further up the road who will stop you if speeding. It's just an alternative to their radar vans.
these pics have been doing the internet rounds for a few years now. they are not even in this country. and if memory is right( but I could be wrong) they are not speed cameras but traffic cameras.
but the FACT is they are not speed cameras and they are not in the uk. its an internet hoax. or facebook please share/like shit, like chain letters of old.
Ah right OJ.... it must be cos I never go above 65 anyway (my wee bike can't or I would!) and when I have done so by mistake in full view of speed cams I have never been ticketed or caught....
Gawd help me when I upgrade to bigger bike....
