just dont want to have to travel a million miles as we usually do for a lot of the bm stuff.no offense but theres never much organised up the northish area and before anyone shouts well organise it yourself i have tried and no response.
oooh yes emzed the moth and lantern would be an excellent venue @jaffa if your seriously doing it i can help you if you like and will contact jay and lynn.we need to know numbers though and if anyone wants rooms.let me know if you want any help not wanting to push in or owt lol just thought might offer my help
Retford nr Shefield . That ain't Northerly . As far as us Northeners are concerned it's practically cockney lol I'm also convinced that folk south of the Black Country have a definite whiff of French in their accent lol.
Most bikers fall into one of two categories.
1/ a good wknd is parking up on a friday . Getting legless all weekend. Riding home Sunday .
2/a good wknd starts when ya throw a leg over ya bike. Pitch your tent. Socialise over a couple of beers and a bbq.off to bed, up earlyish for breakfast. Spend the day riding through beautiful places . Followed by , socialise over a couple of beers etc etc .
A weekend has to be one or the other coz a compromise weekend suits no one .
60 people sitting on bikes in a traffic jam of their own making only suits the kind of people that think it's 'cool' to sit in a bike traffic jam lol.
we didnt say it was ooop north dustin lol just a bit more northerly than usual.but its only a suggestion.but its a really nice venue and the food is really good and the owners are brilliant
The moth and lantern was one of the ones I was thinking of debsz don't want to do friskney again this year fancied a change the other one was Keswick in the barn that BJ was going to do will look at different venues over the next month and post ideas and links up to see what interest there is as the more the merrier
PS any other venue suggestions gratefully received as im looking for somewhere I haven't been before to camp and ride with good company and good beer cheers for the suggestions already debz and dusty the moth and lantern looks interesting debz and dusty will have a look at yours tomorrow will also check out Keswick the only thing against Keswick is I have been to it too many times recently but the barn idea is a good one
thats cool mate i dont think i will get to keswick if it goes there as its nearly double the mileage and with the wedding and everything this year have to watch the pennies.but we will see what everyone else thinks and where it ends up
Tan hill , the highest pub in the world. (north of Watford). Is really bleak , desolate and windy lol. Mind you , MADDY PRIOR stopped off there for a pint the other week xx . A better bet would be Dent . Check it out on Google earth. There's been several bike rallies held at the High Lanning campsite. The village and 3pubs are quite used to bikers.
I suppose it depends on what type of event you want.
Camping , bunkbarn , pub b&b , b&b , hotel.
If you want some seclusion . The population of the Highlands of Scotland is just over 200k .
In Cumbria there are more sheep registered than people . Pop under 500k. We have several excellent rugby club venues for rallies but you're gonner need a couple of hundred peeps. I know several country pubs that will cater for small gatherings , up to 50 peeps.
Problem is getting people to go . Even Kiss is lucky to get 100 peeps turning up on the day.
Then of course there is the bikes versus cars debate.
The only way to guarantee a quality weekend is to do it yourself. That way ya get everything ya want .sunshine optional .
