And this came from my friend Frank Melling, who runs the Thundersprint meeting. The 'stars' he refers too include Jim Redman and Giacomo Agostini - they don't get much more starlike than that!
Memo to self - must put it on the events section.
Enter Your Bike at the Thundersprint Show
One of the highlights of this year’s Thundersprint was the fantastic display of classic, custom and simply cool bikes on show at Winnington Park Rugby Club, as a preview to the following day’s Thundersprint.
For 2008, Thundersprint organiser Frank Melling is looking to expand the bike display and you could be part of it.
Frank said: "The Thundersprint Bike Show was a huge success and a great warm up to the following day’s Thundersprint.
"We had every branch of motorcycling represented, from classic race machines to customised Hyabusas and cruisers. For me, one of the best parts of the day was seeing modern and classic machines displayed together. If you couldn’t find a bike to excite you then you really don’t like motorcycles.
"For 2008, we will have a bigger display area and this means that we can increase the number of bikes on show. We would like to hear from anyone who has an eye catching machine - whether this is custom or race - modern or classic.
"There is no charge to enter your bike and during the afternoon, everyone will receive a unique souvenir presented by one of our stars.
"What we won’t have are prizes for the best, biggest or shiniest bikes. The Thundersprint Bike Show is a celebration of motorcycling where every bike entered is equally important to us - not simply those belonging to riders with the deepest wallets."
Away from the bikes, there will be trade stands, demo rides from leading manufacturers and interactive displays from the National "Bike Safe" team. In all a fantastic day out - and with completely free entry for spectators and free parking too.
The Thundersprint Bike Show runs throughout Saturday 10 May, the day before the Thundersprint, and is held at Winnington Park Rugby Club which is three miles from Northwich town centre.
Entry forms are available from www.thundersprint.com or ‘phone the Thundersprint event hotline on 01928 740 498.
In Thailand...
...a mobile motorcycle restaurant is becoming a regular sight on the streets of Bangkok. The mobile food stall stocks around 100 bags of ready meals, including desserts and snacks, to save citizens braving the traffic to reach the market.
So what is it, a restaurant, a food stall or meals on wheels? lol
