just got me premium for next year £205 including full breakdown and legal.
went on bike insurer and got a quote for £147 so rang up my insurer to see if they could do it cheaper.told em i had changed job to line manager and they bumped it up to £225 WTF
so went on carole nash web site as new customer and got same policy for £160 with £150 excess.
do these insurance companys make it up as they go along or just expect us to take what ever they say !!!!
I remember when I added my ex to my insurance and it went down. Adding somebody who was younger than me and with no experience makes the insurance cost less? It doesn't make sense.
when i asked em why it was cheaper online they said it was because i did not need to talk to a customer service rep... £65 for 2 mins thats more exp than some porn lines lol
and why ya job should make a diff is behond me
A lot of the time insurance quotes don't seem to make much sense.
I've no idea what the OP does for a living, but in my experience certain jobs can have a large potential difference in terms insurance risk, although I suspect that insurance companies don't really have a good handle on it.

I was quoted £182.00 then got the paperwork through last week showing £220.00 with an APR of 59.9% over 12 months!! They haven't had time to listen to my phone call yet, apparently they're too busy so i've cancelled the DD and i've got a different quote lined up if it hits the fan.
Yes, Robbing B**stards the lot of em, just went to change from the xjr to the cbx and its gone up £90.00???
Sent the proposal form pack saying (dont not re-new or start new policy) checked my bank this week they've helped them selves to £40+ so now what?
You can bet they'll try to con me into paying out a cancellation Fee!!!
I'd rather send then a hand grenade and suffer the consequences
My previous insurers have managed to make a charge against a credit card that I never gave them the number for. They claim that it's an ongoing charge (which it isn't) and that the bank gave them the number. I'm pretty sure banks don't go around giving people your credit card number. I've reported it as a fraudulent transaction and the bank have done a chargeback. I'll bet I haven't heard the last of it though.
trying to renew mine on-line, got a lovely quote £142, fully comp, unlim mileage, 90 days overseas cover, £200 excess & free insurance so I will get it back if I had a claim, free legal, can ride other bikes, breakdown cover £25 extra,
... so tried to get it, to get taken back to the quote page, to go through everything again, click buy it now.... to go back to the quote page ... was about to teach the laptop to fly when it finally gave me the summery ... wrong start time .. did it all again ... missing number plate & the mileage is limited ....
AJ, maybe on their checklist is a box for "significantly altered power output", without considering that it's downwards rather than upwards. How much longer until your 2 years are up?
however now im 21 i could take another test to prove i could "handle it" but to be honest i do genuinely think its a good thing that my bike is and i will probably leave it !!
Im not sure i think it MAY be that a restriction is classed as a modification ! and any " mods " = high insurance
I probably wouldn't bother with the DAS in your position either, it's a lot of money when you can just wait another 11 months and get more experience while you're at it.My bike has mods (Motad exhaust and fairing removed), I've told the insurance about them and it didn't make any difference. There are a few other things I haven't told them about, but they weren't on the list.I've found that minor mods which don't significantly affect value or performance don't affect the insurance either. I'm not sure how many mods become too many though.
its a hit and a miss with insurance guys and it depends on who is on the other end of the phone, if they want to help you they will if not they will hammer you and twist the logic to get more.......also depends on the insurance rep some of the people on the phone get a commision on any monies they bring in, therefore it may be prudent to ask ( remember calls are recorded ) to ask if your premium suddenly goes up during a call if they are on commision for any extra they bring in....sometimes changes the tone of the conversation.......... remember if they lie they are breaking the law.....
I found that any "mod" effects my insurance..
I have some carbon fibre mirrors that i wanted to put on my bike, but i didnt because it put the insurance up loads. I dont know if its different depending on age :/
Yep, i think it is best to leave it the extra 11 months !!
i found with bike insure ,online ,, when you phone up you dont get put through to the one you get the quote from,
last month got a quote online for my son £329.bandit 600 with mods 18 years old,,not bad i thought..when i phoned up they wanted £694
.told them to shove it...phoned back to complain , and got through to the right company and got the insurance for the first quote ,, app it happens quite often if you phone up after the quote they just put you throu to any of the online companys..
falcon insurance is the cheapest ive found , for my son..
Guys if you feel your being ripped off with online insurance, or your own insurance company on renewing ypur policy. Then print copies of any online windows and contact the ABI (Association of British Insurers), I've had dealings with the ABI before and they can help. I'm in the process of making a complaint about Confused.com for my car insurance policy quotes. Also if any broker/insurance company can decrease there premium amount when you phone them, ask them why they couldn't quote that amount in the first place, and then tell them your not renewing for that reason. They serve you, not you them
I don't know if I have been lucky but bike and car quotes online have given me a price and that is what I have paid. That was two bikes and a car in the last 12 months.
So I have been happy with the prices and had no extra add-ons when it came to paying up.
It might not be so easy if I have to claim on the insurance but hopefully that will not arise!
