I have noticed in my time on the road that a lot of bikers will nod at you when you pass each other,lovely acknowledgement and always brings a to my face. So the questions are......are you a nodder or a !!!!!????? What is your opinion of riders on scooters ? What is your opinion of riders chosing to stay on a 125cc and not rush into D.A.S ?

I nod but very rarely get a nod back.

Chavs on scooters/mopeds are a pain in the ass... No protection on their arms or legs esp in the summer and they ride like complete dicks.

Whats D.A.S ?

I always nod, and most of the time get a nod back, but not always. If you want to stay on a 125 thats OK, but why not take your test.

There is another option between staying on a 125 and doing direct access and that's taking your test on a 125.

Just ...

Yes I nod, no matter who is passing .

Agree with Debs on the scooter issue

DAS does not have to be rushed , I did my CBT in Feb 2009 then had DAS lessons on a 650 Gladius , did MOD1 in Nov & Passed & MOD 2 in Feb 2010 & passed, all the time in between pootleing on my 125

So thats another option for you

test fees
Theory = £31.00
MOD1 = £15.50
MOD2 = £75 .00

Justme101 You can get all info on the internet, plus videos of the tests.

I don't always nod depends on the circumstances, sometimes I just raise my hand a bit. and I make no effort to acknowledge the lunatic fringe on 125s that are bent over the tank screwing every last mph out of it. They are just an accident looking for somewhere to happen.

Shell is right. You don't have to do a intensive course on a 125 or via direct access. You can do lessons at your own pace. Your only time limit is making sure you've passed both mods 1 and 2 within the 2 years your theory test is valid otherwise you'll have to start again. Doesn't matter if your CBT runs though, that can be renewed as and when.

I wonder what will happen in 2013 when the 3rd directive rules on motorbike tests comes in ?

Will people who pass in the next say 6 - 12 months on a 125 still be allowed to progress to a bigger bike after 2 years or will they have to follow the new rules planned to be brought in in 2013 & re-test to ride a bike unrestricted?

Good point Shell. Looks like anyone passing their A2 test now (or since (19th Jan 2011) won't gain automatic A entitlement as that category needs to be held before 18th Jan 2013.

"Forgive me father for I have sinned. It's been a while since my last confession. I've nodded everyone I've seen on a bike/trike, but not them awful scootery things, they make me sick. I've even stuck a leg or a hand out when a bike/trike has past me or I pass them."
