Me and my daughter are on holiday soon and we fancy going to pastures new but unfortunately that means I don't know any campsites in the area. We are thinking of somewhere around the M4, M5, M40 triangle if that makes sense. So I'd be really grateful if anyone can recommend a non commercialised camp site that's canal/lake side and with a real ale pub on site or within walking distance. Also, as it's unchartered territory for us are there any 'can't be missed' touristy things in the area?

Gypsy, google 'oxfordshire camping reviews', possibly some tips and useful info there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ and try this... http://www.beds4ramblers.com/camping-site/Oxfordshire/5...ping-Park/ EDIT: I think the website link on that page may be broken, or the camp site doesn't exist anymore, sorry about that. Wherever you end up I hope you have an excellent holiday.

How about Cropredy in Oxfordshire. When I stayed there I was camping at the Cropredy festival, but the village is lovely & because of the festival links there are all sorts of whacky people attracted to living in that area. It's really pretty round there with the cropredy lock on the canal. http://www.virtualtenby.co.uk/campsites.asp?in=Cropredy

Hi 6ypsy, try Bridge House campsite, Lechlade, Glos, GL73AG
01367252348 been going there every easter for 11years, 6 pubs 3 restaurants 2 cafe's/chip shops. £7pppn basic site no frills constant hot water showers no extra charges. Nearest pub 5min walk furthest 20min along river, one has its own micro brewery. I highly recommend the site and town. {don't forget the xmas shop]

There's a few sites in Stratford on Avon - it's a very nice town and plenty to do.
