I took my bike test in 1999 and failed. It was the first day for a new examiner & so me & my instructor had no idea where we would go. He took me up one of the steepest hills in kendal with a horrendous crossroads at the top. I had to turn right and swung so wide I nearly hit the cars parked at the side of the road. Then there's another even steeper hill as you head toward Kendal town centre again. They were gobsmacked he made me do that road up and down....we'd never practiced it.
Forward to 2012 and I'm doing lots of riding round estates, trying to find traffic to trickle in etc etc cos I'm practicing for my mod1.
But still, Gillingate, the steep road struck terror deep into my heart ...until TODAY! Was approaching the junction and thought, why not I fancy going somewhere different. Was a piece of p***s
Love it Minnie
You're a great rider and don't let anyone tell you any different
You will breeze through your tests and wonder why you ever doubted yourself
You know your bike and you trust it
And you obviously enjoy a challenge even when it's self imposed
So just go for your tests and get it over and done with
Then you can get on with riding around looking for cake
Went to Bolton to help my lad move into his university digs, thought about cleaning the bike, changed me mind and put it in't garage. Do it tomoz before i go up to rivvy.
My oldest lad just phoned to say hes not comin out tonight so i'm billy no mates again. oh hum.
WELL done u minnie!! Very jealous tho-give me a steep hill and a right or left turn and the only thing i can think of is 'lights dont change please' or 'feck please dont let me stall/drop/crash it' lol! May hav had my license 8 years but avoidance is definitely my best option!!
Oh yes put key in baby 400, tried to start up and failed, thought it had a false neutral so knocked it into gear and now cant get it out of first pmsl... Ah well had 208 look at the er5 on fleabay, got 15 watchers and 0 bids so far so here's hoping she sells or i'll be stuck with a baby 400 cbr i cant tax mot or insure let alone sort out lol!
I did chuck my leg over her tho and whisper 'soon dear girl i'll hav u out soon' lol
Here's hoping! How on earth do u sort gear shift/gears out tho? Please can someone pm me the idiots guide to sorting them out coz that haynes manual may as well be in chinese lol xx
(Yesterday) Had serious fun on bjke taking youngest daughter back to placement in Cheshire,no motorways, just A an B roads,Kim laughin on back of bike, then went to see someone special and without water proofs managed to ride home totally dry in a gap in showers---RESULT!
Changed the chain and sprockets on my ྎ 650 Nighthawk, went +1 on the engine and -2 on the back wheel, now it has a decent set of motorway legs on it instead of the under geared set up of 1980's America where it came from, when the speed limit was 55mph !
yesterday....feylin and i went to look at tutbury castle, rode around some then spotted sign for childhood museum....couldn't resist, brilliant place ,stirred memories galore, then meal, yorkshire puds with everything,so much neither of us could finish!!rain set in so a very soggy and cold ride back to base, but lots to talk about when back.another 'off the cuff' day,no plan ,no agenda,no time limits....great way to explore............xxx
Not mine but with Jinx yesterday riding home in the wrong direction,( usual for us ) headed partway through Derbyshire moors , dark, raining with mist coming down .
