This will be my first run into Europe on a bike, so are there any specific requirements for riding over there that I need to be aware of?

For example

1) Noise restrictions? (My bike is not quiet, but is MOT legal)
2) Do we have to wear Hi Vis while in France?
3) Anything else that we need to be aware of?

i may be wrong

but i thought the law in france regarding hi-viz vest and warning triangles does not apply to motorcycles.

i do however carry a hi-viz in my tank bag in case of a breakdown

Have to wear Hi Viz in France now, Dont need triangle, need bulb kits. You will need a copy ( i take 2 copys of each) V5, Ins, Mot, driving lic, its better to give them a copy, than the real doc. I also have travel Ins for motorcycle, Passport, money Things I take Cable ties duck tape Chain lube Tolet roll puncher kit There are some more little things but I think of them when packing.

I may be wrong here ( I am not a French lawyer). But the law in France of wearing Hi-Viz doesn't come into force until next year and according to some sources this has become so unpopular with the masses that the authorities may even scrap the idea . However i think you still have to carry one somewhere. With regard to warning triangles, fire extinguishers, first aid kits etc ; I have no idea. A Ducati Monster isn't exactly a big bike and the thought of having having a 'ton' of gear on board is a bit of a nonsense . Breakdown cover, insurance and all the relevent docs are of course paramount and will be taken + copies !

Bikerpete

1) Noise restrictions? (My bike is not quiet, but is MOT legal)
None as long as it's not stupid but Nurburgring check if needed and you would be barred from going on. If it's MOT you'll be fine I have done 6 tours with Blue flame tri ovals with plugs removed
2) Do we have to wear Hi Vis while in France? No
3) Anything else that we need to be aware of? Don't eat yellow snow

For Bikers this trip
Hi Viz Vest - Compulsory in France NOPE
Warning Triangle - Compulsory in France NOPE

Spare Bulbs - Compulsory NOPE

First Aid Kit - Compulsory NOPE

Fire Extinguisher NOPE

GB/UK Badge/Sticker Yes but doesn't have to be a permanent/large

Driving Licence Yep Original not copies
Bike Insurance YEP Original not copies
V5 Doc & MOT Cert. YEP Original not copies

Breakdown Cover Optional but ur mad if u don't
These mostly relate to cars as general agreement in EU is bikers have nowhere to carry all that

The hi viz comes into being next year and will apply to French nationals. We will also only be in France for 25 mins and we get straight onto motorway for all of it

I will have with me and free for u to use
Large first aid kit
puncture repair
tyre weld
tyre pump
small tool kit

I will also carry a hi viz but only wear it in certain circumstances.

Ok so Ive been shot down again by trying to provide some useful info

I carry all the items I have listed because I would rather be safe than sorry, and I do wear my hi viz vest.. The items I listed as compulsory were taken from the website I listed..

It is up to each individual to whether they want to carry anything at all... I was just trying to help..

Any info is good info KWSIDEB I was a Euro truck driver, and I go over 3-4 times a year on the bike. in the truck I was forever beeing stopped, but never been stopped on the bike. Madscots Is right just take what you need, but with the V5, Mot, Ins,Lic sometimes they wont them so they look at the origanl but you then give them a copy if they want one. Chq with your Ins that you have euro cover and breakdown cover, I have both on my Ins it's with Adran Flux
