Had a whale of a day, smiles all round, and a real pleasure to spend the day with such a great bunch of people.
An organisational nightmare, expertly executed by Geoff...
Nice one all...
Special congratulations to our 125 FFS crew, showing that 200 miles in a day on a 125 is not only possible, but to be enjoyed... even if bits do fall off How's the shopping list going Kaz?

Ian
My thanks to Geoff.
Great day , fantastic scenery ( didn't get much of a chance to look at it as my ride leader was going so damn fast.). Great company. great fish and chips etc
Suggest that Geoff's new name is Sargeant Major. One hell of a bellow. LOL.
Thanks also to Ian for getting me and others to the rendez vous.
Wot a fantastic day!! Many thanks to Geoff ( is your head swellin yet?? lol ) it does take a lot of prep and planning and i wouldn't have liked to have been responsible.
I was apprehensive about the ride, right up until gettin to Squires, I was seriously thinking of leavin Ziggy there and gettin a pilly, but I'm so glad I didn't.
From there we went to Helmsley and met up with the more northernly crew, and then we split off into groups, so those that wanted a fast blast could get off and enjoy the fast roads.
The L group went off up to Rosedale and over the moors, ( those of you that know me will know im totally crap at directions so will leave it to someone else to tell you where we went! lol)
All I know is that we went through some absolutely gorgoeous parts of the moors. We pulled in at Rosedale ( I think ) just before we made an incredibly steep downhill descent down the infamous Chimney Bank!! XK and Geoff warned me this was a steep baby and that there were a couple of steep hairpins halfway down!!! " EEK" Cassie said the colour drained from my face!! lol but XK, Geoff and Herne reassured me and teld me to keep in 2nd gear all the way.. so off we went.. XK taking the lead
WOW !! wot a fantastic road, steady away, then a climb back up the other side of the ridge... I was concentrating like mad, but still had time to smile and acknowledge a group of ramblers on the roadside who waved at us
We also had a lovely ride over the moors, fantastic, Ziggy opened up and we fair flew round them roads!! Brilliant !!!
Gets to Whitby, meets up wit the rest of the crew and head off for some well earned fish n chips.
Well done to Rebel too!! and thanks for keep reminding me about my indicators!! lol
Time to head home and we split off our seperate ways, our group taking the A64 route ( i think?!?! remember..me+directions =crap lol)
bit of rain and i got quite cold ( puts waterproofs on list of must haves!) stop at Todmorden for a cuppa and fuel, then off for home.
Trapping along, ( yes Zigg can trap!! lol) and Geoff pulls in,, and turns round, instructing me to 'stay there' then Ian/Stella turn round.. i see Rachel in my mirror has pulled up... hope everythings ok.. Geoff and Ian go past her.. hmmmmmm Rachel must be ok ..?!?!
Then Rachel pulls up behind me and tells me Zigs battery cover had flown off !!! they had gone back to retrieve it !! hahah good job Geoff/Rachel had intercoms!
Thankfully it was still intact, off we go agen. Geoff and Rachel head off towards home, Ian/Stella escort me back..
Gets to mine, we all agree something 'metallic' was rattling on Zig,
turns out the casing on my chain sprocket (dunno tech term lol) was hangin on by a thread..literally! one bolt missing the other only just on..
And..... there was a pretty oil patch under his belly , Ian got down and had a look, the breather clip had come off so hopefully its just that, still seemed to be plenty of oil in..
Just remembered too... on the way to Helmsley Zig seemed to think it wud be good if his indicators pointed roadways, (ie down instead of ahead!!) Like Julie says, he must have wanted the slugs to know which way we were going!!!! lol
Sooooo... thanks to Julie and tb100, Zig now has some rather fetching blue accessories on his indicators, very fetching, but he musnt get attached to them, its not practical!!! lol
Well.. just under 200 miles in a day on a 125 ..... and im the proudest bunny on the planet !! Well done to Rebel and Cassie too!! We girls done good!!!
Totally gutted for Stella, I know you really wanted to do this, and i wanted you to do it too, but its not all bad eh? You had a great blast on a pilly ride and there will be loads more opportunities.. I cant see these BM'ers not wantin to go out agen at some time or other....?!?! ... andim sure Mavis will be back on track soon enuff!
RoseI'm reet chuffed for you, I know you had a brilliant day, I'm sure u will be on mini V for the next one and Stella and Nina will be out on their bikes too!
I'm sooooo glad i did it, thanks for encouraging me, and supporting me, you're all ace!!!!
Where next guys and gals ??
lol.. nice of you to offer Geoff, are u sure u can organise 20 of us over to France?
Have u got all the ferry bookings done? passports in order? Can you shout in French?.... haha
I can shout in any language ... as long as it's yorkshire (or japanese!)
I just want to say, that despite the questions from a couple of people, I was not stressed yesterday.
28 people put their names down. Nowt unusual about that.
Mr Weatherman said "Don't do it!!" and I expected maybe seven bikes with a couple more joining us at Helmsley.
SQUIRES
Rachel and I got to Squires and the weather was fine.
I did think at the time that there seemed a fair few people there, a good number of which I had never met.
Oh well, thinks me, they can't be ALL coming on this ride out.
First mistake.
We then learn that some are going to be late, so we won't be setting off at 11.
Not a problem, thinks I through slightly clenched teeth.
We set off and turn right out of the car park.
I go slowly to see how many are following; five, six ... nine, ten .... hold up I've lost count!
So I pull over a little further on and count.
Sixteen bikes and I am now told there were to be another four at Helmsley.
Sh*t!
I was not stressed though ....
So I gives a little chat to everyone and explained that we'd go as a single group to York and then split up into two or three groups from there.
Second mistake.
On through Cawood and then a left turn onto the A19 where we stop for fuel.
I do a quick count ... nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen .... hold up! Please don't tell me we've already lost three!
The kindly volunteered tail end charlie Paul (unmistakable on his white Pan) was one of them. Rachel had his number, so gives him a call and passes the phone to me.
"Where are you mate?"
"Dunno!"
"Are you on the A19?"
"No, never got there."
"How come?"
"You lot went straight through the lights at Cawood, but the two bikes in front of me turned left."
"Why'd they do that?"
"Bu**ered if I know"
Ok, so it's funny now ...
They had understandably followed another two bikes who had managed to get into this huge convoy of ours and gone left instead of straight on.
Not to worry, Paul was a star and saw them to Helmsley for me.
I ... was ... not ... stressed ... though!!
Time to split into smaller groups thinks I.
Ian agrees to lead a faster group whilst I lead the slower group with the 125s.
Ok, I says, if you want to go in the faster group, go now ... three leave.
I've still got ten!!
Like I said, it's funny now ....
HELMSLEY
I WAS NOT STRESSED. I REPEAT, I WAS NOT STRESSED.
Ok, so the guy (not in our group) who chose to rev his totally unsilenced Harley up right behind me whilst I was chatting to Rose and Julie, did nearly get a size 9 bike boot in the side of his head. I say nearly, because he moved!
But, I was not stressed .... honestly.
I decided to split the group again. "Two" groups going over Rosedale and Chimney Bank and "One" faster group going up the A169.
XK kindly agrees to lead "one" of the Rosedale groups with me being tailend charlie.
Except there's only six wanting to do the Rosedale run!
Even my loved one deserts me!!!
I ... WAS ... NOT ... STRESSED!!!!!!!!
The Rosedale run was very pretty by the way, if any of the others EVEN CARE!!!!
Anyway, got to Whitby, feeling like I wanted to strangle the nearest small child.
Ate my fish and chips in the rain.
Went home.
And it rained on the A64.
Perfect end to a perfect day.
Saying this I did have a laugh at Rach giving Alan enough painkillers to kill a small horse, but hey it was funny at the time.
I'M ONLY KIDDING ... I LUV YOU ALL.
Just don't get in my way for a few days!!
hahahah - nice one Sgt Major (frog)
hey Napoleon - you were taking piccy's weren't ya ??? you gonna put them up on the events - am dying to see em
Kaz - make sure to check your front tyre hasn't gone down again!!! **ps Todmorden is in Lancashire..lol**
First one to tag Criag's "bits" as themselves wins... erm...
... one of the nice brown mugs from the Whistle Stop Cafe!
** p.s. Don't mention the compromising position photo... people may be watching **
