Mr Bill i am looking at all options, winter, summer and spring, but to be honest as there is so much going on through out the summer , it does seem sensible to go for early or late, honestly going to depend on pricing. The weekend after Friskney is going to be reccy weekend for this so hopeful wont be much longer before i can post some definates and with this amount of folk, i want a hefty discount lol

Ice breaking is really good fun...lots of creaking and crunches Don't mean to be a pooper but to be honest I think you've really taken on a challenge pulling this off cos most boat yards only have one or two of the really big 8/10 berth narrow boats in their fleet. Then a lot of yards lay them up for the winter Then they really prefer to rent them for a whole week and only tend to do short breaks when they can't get any other bookings...and often only at short notice. Definitely not in the school hols and only in the summer if you can go at short notice cos they've got a cancellation or something Chance of finding a yard that will rent for a one-way trip for a short break is pretty remote cos they've got to get it back...they will want us to turn round and bring it back But if you can pull it off, woopee! Really good fun in the winter even if it is perishing cold...you really appreciate a lovely warm pub ...bit like bike riding in the winter. And short days mean long nights socialising, nice one

Really good fun in the winter even if it is perishing cold Except if you're the poor sod on steering duty The time for this is late spring, longer nights so can travel that bit further, and cheaper than summer. Maybe get a number of 6/8 berth boats. IMO.

Worried now, Captain Bob doesn't even know what year it is!!! Should he be allowed to steer a boat without his carers???

I also heard that he has an eyepatch, a parrot and a wooden leg, but that doesn't make him an expert seaman though does it

This sounds great - would possibly be interested if there's room for a newbie + 1 (depending on dates & location).
