I really like the version 2 that TC has put on his pics page . It's clear, and says everything - love the helmets used for the spaces in the 'B'....... and it's used purple too..... what more could it need!!!!
Like the idea, but if it has "BikerMatch" instead of BM on it then folk won't wear it, we know this from experience which is why it was being abbreviated to BM and just being described as an online community or something similar. No matter how great the site is, people do not want to advertise the fact they are on a dating site.
Boss Mom - there are versions without any text on it (just BM) for that very reason.
(But I secretly think you just want the BM on its own so you can pretend it stands for Boss Mom... )
Ooooooh, that never occurred to me!!! B.M BossMom....BikerMatch..
Just to let you know folks....I now live in Holland and my username will be Blackbird Man.....but you can call me.....
What colour will the t shirts be BossMom ??
I knew I came here to ask something...
Visors Matt...Visors!?
They look more like a pair of french knickers stretched across the a*se of some overweight Thai hooker!!
The prize, for the funniest quip in a long while, goes to Old Red
I like T C's helmet logos but not with the full name on, I still like Mike's version tho.
I think the logo has to have the text with it at some time so that people associate the BM logo with the name.
I have uploaded some suggestions to my profile of how the website header could look, along with a suggestion for the t-shirt using only the logo.
Going to leave this for a while now as other people should be having a go too and I am hogging the thread.
TC having the full title of the site on anything will not get sales, we've already established that with the clothing that's already been up for sale. No one wants to advertise they are a member of a dating site.
I hear ya Sandi, which is why I only showed the logo (with no text) on the t-shirt.
However, there are times when you have to advertise what the site is, such as on the website header or in adverts in magazines or online. On these occasions I would add text to the logo.
(examples shown in 'BM Logo Suggested Usage' folder on my profile)
As I said previously, what I had uploaded was a family of logos based around a central theme (i.e. the BM initials with inscribed helmets) for use in different applications.
Mike - will experiment with your idea tomorrow when I am fresh. Have been illustrating a brochure all night and need some sleep!
TC, if this is what you do for a living then it would be great if you could mess about with the bike logo a bit that Mike did. Think it's a great idea but, as Matt said, needs to have better colouring/shading to make it look 3D and professional. Lots have said earlier in the thread about having a bike in the logo as it is what brings us all together whether dating or social.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with, great of you to take the time to do this.
Hey BM! Yep, I have been involved with logo design and branding for a few companies and organisations in a professional capacity.
Hopefully I can give some tips for other people coming up with designs too...
From a branding point of view, you have to think of how the logo will be used in different environments such as on a letterhead, a fax cover page, a title on a web page, a t-shirt, merchandising products etc.
I normally start a design in black only and add colours at a later date.
Think about how the design will look when scaled up and down. (use vectors from the start if possible).
Avoid intricacy in the design as detail will be lost when the logo is used at its smallest size. For instance, when viewing the website on my laptop, the logo on the header at the top of the page would be just under 13mm high so print your design out at this size and see how it looks.
These are just off the top of my head but if you Google logo design there is a lot of information out there (some good, some not so good...)
Regarding shading and 3D effects, it is debatable whether this actually makes a design look more professional. If you were to look at the top 50 brands only 5 or 6 of them have shading in their main logo.

That is not to say your logo shouldn't but it is not 'necessary' to make it look 'professional'. Will have a think...
As far as using a motorbike for a logo, Mike's is heading in the right direction but it is not one that I wanted to go down for a very simple reason. You would have to use one style of bike for your logo and this could alienate riders of another type. For instance, would the sports bike riders want to walk around with a cruiser logo on their chest and vice versa. Then you have the trailies, trikes, mopeds, tourers etc...
I could have a go with it anyway just as an exercise as long as that is ok with Mike - I don't want to tread on anybody's toes.
I have enjoyed having a go at the logo but feel I might have been a bit destructive than constructive as nobody else seems to be submitting ideas.
Let's see some more!
FYI the name will be used in the logo online, but anything people wear (keyrings etc) will all just say BM. This has been stated a million times from the start and is the reason we're looking for a new logo in the first place (cos people wont wear t-shirts saying biker match)
Should be back home tomorrow so back in front of main pc,, Feel free to play with my designs,,,, regardes the bike styles,, i did take that on board being a dreaded Wing rider from the shire,,, lol,, hense the mid road style,, seemed when u mixed in styles together it started to get complecated, and which styles to go for (i hate hogs, others hate wings), same prob comes with male / female rider, felt colour the the bike to indicate the riders sex with one bike style or say union jack colours to indicate Brit flag,, would have been tempted to put the union jack on the first bike and alteranative colours to the bikes behind which would play against the present logo . Will try and pull out a few other ideas
