@TAB007
well it is possible the Meeting place is Chester Services which is on the A5117 M56 J14 roundabout
but getting to there from Shipley that would be a good run in its self
having said that if you make it into wales us welsh lads will give you a gold star
so get your map out and plan your route
If you go on Google Map tell it your a cyclist it will give you a route the services are near Elton
I think you would have to leave Shipley at about 5.30 am
and it would be nice to see you on the run
good luck
Thanks for all the advice, but taking into account the amount of time I'd be riding for I think I will wait for a ride closer to home as I need to walk the next day, not look like John Wayne without his horse!! Plus I wouldn't want to be the weakest link and slow everyone down. I look forward to passing my test and being able to keep up with you all. I hope you enjoy it, I may poodle up to squires that day instead x Thanks again Traycie
Right Stuie, lets set something up over your way for Tab, I know you willhave loads of routes in mind. When we have a date I am happy to do the posting etc and leave the experienced bit to you if you want. Will set up new thread for it.
That sounds like a plan, I'm so inexperienced I suppose I need to build it up slowly and I will have a look at matlock - no idea where it is or how far but will investigate. Thanks again everyone x
@ tab
I think you made the right decision Tab specially if you haven’t got long distance under your belt
I went to Aberystwyth in the 70s on a triumph 250 trophy from fence in Pendle, and I was on L plates so it was A roads only it tuck me, 9 hours to get there but I was pitching my tent.
After the weeks holiday as I was packing my kit back on the bike, I’ll tell you now, I was not looking forward to the run back.
When I got home I needed another week’s holiday to get over the holiday I’d just had .
From Shipley to Aberystwyth and back is about 450 miles, and to do that in one day, for a; ,I’ll say beginner, is way-over-the-top , a lot of hardened bike rider’s wouldn’t do that distance in one day, on A roads only going through towns and cities
A good run for you is devils bridge on a Sunday GBNP as taken you under her wing so get some distance and we here in Wales are looking forward to seeing you on one of the Welsh run’s soon
safe riding
Thanks V-Rod, I can't wait to pass my test so I can join all the big bike bikers! 450 miles would make my bum very sore, even though it's well padded! Lol I look forward to becoming more experienced in time x
@Tab
Haha I like a girl that knows her padding !
Jump on your 125 take a run up to devils bridge Kirkby Lonsdale on a Sunday its about 50 miles from you, its full of bikes and there’s a burger van, but more impotently there’s an ice-cream van. If you do that, you put 50+50=100 miles under your belt, because matlock in Derbyshire Dales for you, is about 90 miles. 90+90=180
It isn’t your bike, your bike will do 65mph and on some A-B-roads some big bike will find it hard to keep up. Its your ability to do distance that’s what you need to work on because there is nothing whirrs than being in pain and still having 90 miles to run
If you post on here that your going up to Kirkby Lonsdale I’m positive someone will keep you company then the week after take a wiz up to Windermere that’s about 80 miles
Then you will be ready for matlock So that’s two run for you, drag GBNP and stu along
Safe ridding
Ok, I will sort that out in my diary. I'm a bit nervous doing all those miles on my own, but I'm sure I can manage it! If I can manage dealing with my back brake falling apart whilst riding, I'm sure I can deal with riding on my own in a strange part of the world! lol Thanks again x
