I agree with Kwak, LC .. 3 days is a good acheivement!!
I did a similar thing to you Kwak.. I would break the habit of having 2 cigs before i got to work ( one with a cuppa..then one on the drive in) started cutting out the one in the car....then the one at first break... etc ...
It was hard..and yehhh i piled the weight on..and still bloody got it !!! grrrr but I actually ended up with Bronchial Pneumonia and subsequently asthma ..so i HAD to stop!
I had the odd lapse at first...but been smoke free for jus over 2 yrs now.
So keep at it .. if its something you really want to do ..you will !!
( now I've just got to apply that theory to myself and shifting some bloody weight !!) lol
As for saving money...I'm int same boat as you Kwak...skint lol... fek knows where all that cig money went !! lol
oh...as for 'what I've done today'....... babysitting and housework lol
well i've been out in the garden today getting rid of all the winter crap n stuff .... then i popped over to a pals for coffee n spent 4 hours putting the world to right
i'm now gonna make tea and get myself settled with a dvd i think
Karey, I didn't cut down, I quit cold turkey. I had no money to buy tobacco so I had to quit there and then, but like I said I really wanted to quit so it wasn't so diffcult for me to stay quit.
I did realise tho that if I had the money to buy tobacco I may never have given up at all, that surprised me cos I had always said 'one day I will give up'
Lol yea I know what ya mean, I wish I'd given up smoking when I COULD afford to buy FAGS, cos that way I'd have saved loads of money, ah well 'ce'st la vie' eh?
Congratulations on giving up for so long.
unusual choice of name for your son tho, 'No 1'
Oh all right then, he answers to Alex (sometimes). Wants to be an actor or best-selling author, but would settle for a lawyer as a fall-back (!).
Today I rode to a farm shop/tea room and had a farmhouse breakfast........rode to garden centre and had to go back with the car to get the stuff back!........stripped down mates zzr 600 ready for MOT, sorted that, now i'm here chilling out , talking to Jen on msn and awaiting the arrival of young cousin so he can pan me into the ground on my xbox360!
Yeah Kwak, meant lots to do that dont cost no money.
Most biking events are pretty expensive to get into arnt they.
And ps long time since anyone said to me, nice arse usually its some comment about my mouth lol
Got up early this morning(earlier than usual anyway) and went out on the bike to Burnley and met up with my dad. Had a look at a house i fancy buying(if i get the job) and then went over to Preston to see my mum and Nana. Had a great run out, really enjoyed myself, even if my fingers felt non-existent at 9am going over the tops
Went for a ride-Wellington,Minehead,Porlock,Lynmouth,Barstaple-Wellington.The wind was a westerly so I did the slow roads into the wind so i could have the wind in my back on a fast A road home.Wicked when the wind is behind you, feels like the bikes on steroids-it flys.Had the usual "points angst" when i got home though -i need my licence!
Spent a lovely day with Jen and Smiley....what a good lad he truly is! He is an absolute credit to you Jen...hope you rested a bit...xxxxlove and hugsxxxx
People are gonna groan at this one...!!
Went to change my car for a smaller one for financial reasons just so I can stay on the road to ferry little un about... Unfortunately theres no back foot pegs on my bike or she'd be on there like a shot!! She's 5, could anyone tell me what they think a reasonable age for kids to go pillion would be? I was thinking when she was about 8??
Went to the dentist too, not impressed... numbed up my gob, (as if that would stop me yakking) then expected to drill my teeth and leave them exposed for 2 weeks before doing owt with em!! Not a chance, so told him so, gob frozen or not!!
There's no-one more protective than a mum, so go with your own instincts. None of mine have said they want to go pillion (yet), but I'd start them off with a run round the block and take it from there.
There was a similar thread on Bike Chat a few weeks back:
http://www.bikechat.net/sites/bikechat/forum/display_to...Position=2
my kids dont like bikes 14, 15, 16 and 20
can get a bit down in summer months when there not with be but if the truth be told im f... relieved
theres no age stipulated for pillion i would just go for comfort zone
you have to be comfortable with it foremost and then the pillion whatever age
Flame - my youngest is 6 and I'm getting round to looking for a lid for him
He's sat on my lap and hugged the tank a few times, but I agree with Wills - couple of runs round the block to begin with, then take it from there
I'm reasonably sure that legally the only requirement is that they can reach the pegs (problem if you ain't got any), but pegs can be mounted to fit to the child's requirement
Personally, I will be looking at options to actually attach my son to me - not sure if everyone would agree to this as a safety feature, but I have seen it successfully done with a younger child
Best option really would be a cruiser with a sissy bar - my Divvy has a top box with a back rest attached, so I'm hoping that will help
All in all - there's probably a few things to consider other than just the age of the child
Thanks for the advice everyone....
Robyn loves bikes, both me and her dad have them, she's got a quad and loves that too. Right from her being about 2, she would beg her dad to take her 100 yards up and down our road.
Kids!! Know no fear!! She's got her own lid, gloves and boots with having the quad, but she's quite a chunky monkey for 5!!
Cheers everyone!!
