I think the majority of cars could be replaced by some form of single-occupancy vehicle, smaller, cheaper to produce and run, where the operator is actually involved in the driving procedure and not distracted by drinking coffee or texting/shaving etc. A vehicle where the operator is exposed to the elements so that they understand what the road conditions are like, and are aware of how vulnerable they are so they leave proper braking distances and don't drive at stupid miles per hour everywhere.
Whacky, I know..... but if someone could just invent such a thing....
