RESPONSIBILITY Before any planning takes place ensure that you and your organisation or company are prepared to take on the legal responsibility for the overall management of your event including all the health and safety, licensing and insurance aspects. All events must comply with these standards, even if it is a free event or in aid of charity. You and your co©\organisers will be responsible under the law for the safety and welfare of everyone at your event. This includes your members, employees, volunteers, contractors and the public. PLANNING & ORGANISING YOUR EVENT Organising Team Decide on who is organising the event and what their responsibilities will be. Form a group or committee that will direct and manage the smooth and safe running of the event. Appoint an Event Manager ¨C this person will be in overall charge of the event. Appoint an Event Safety Officer ¨C this should be a suitably competent person for the scale of the event, bearing in mind the possible level of risk. Although the overall responsibility for the safe running of the event lies with the group / committee this person will be responsible for organising and managing safety matters. Everyone having a specific responsibility before, during and after the event should be named, have their roles identified and be appropriately qualified. Everyone assisting during the event should be properly instructed of their role including what action to take in the event of an emergency. Create an event document with everyone¡¯s responsibilities and contact numbers. Also include an event timetable, site plan, emergency procedures and any other relevant documentation to fully brief everyone involved in the event.

Very interested so far. One comment tho - this is Bikermatch, not Carmatch. If u wanna come - ride, or pillion. No fekkin cars! Stallholders, or disabled, exepted.

and quite a few of us share a car journey 'cos it means more money to spend on beer and food rather than petrol! Of course it also stops those who are injured and cannot go by bike but someone with a car kindly offers a lift and those who's bikes are off the road at the time of the rally.

We could of course negate the unwanted and unwashed by making it a BM member + guest private event, entry via ticket only. You could then charge a nominal fee for the ticket (to cover printing/postage and field hire. Petervalk is the bloke to ask about rallies, the daft bugger lives em! pmsl say £10 per ticket and then the only other expence is whatever booze you drink or food you eat.

Exceptions can be made 4 bikers, who 4 one reason or another, cannot ride temporarily. No offence, RC, cos I luv u 2 bits, but u an others must try 2 pillion. My offer still stands, I am not all mouth an no trousers.

If it's done as a BM rally then anyone who is a member is welcome. It doesn't matter how they arrive. If it's not open to ALL BM members however they choose to arrive then it's not a BM rally.

XK just wants you too feel his throbbing monster RC! lol And I agree with all poins made, I can see XK's point about it being a bike rally predominantly but its the people that are more important. I shall be coming by helicopter because I'm a secret millionaire playboy.................. without the money,lifestyle,libedo..........

Know where yr coming from , RC & Di. All looked at on their own merits - exeptions can be made in exeptional circumstances. But note this is still BIKERmatch. Just fed up going 2 rallies where there r more cars than bikes. NB - I hav a family too - so appreciate the probs. As 4 Ghosty's fekkin helicopter...

Then with all due respect go to a non BM meet that doesn't allow cars if that's how you feel. I have neither car or bike at the min as I can't afford to replace at the moment, so am I banned too if I arrive by bus, train or on foot? (or GH's imaginary chopper!) If it's advertised as a BM meet then all are welcome. If not then it's not a BM meet if you discriminate against people who pay their subs each week. PS. I said in ya chopper not on it!

Di - all BMer's welcome at BM meets - just try and come by bike, or pillion. It's the not trying I object to.

I hate that "no cars" stipulation when it comes to rallies... and it's one of the main things that'll put me off going to one... I'm an independent sod and when single, I much prefer to get to a rally under my own steam, rather than snag a pillion ride from someone who you've then got to trust enough not to demand a "ride" for a ride, or you end up fighting off their advances all weekend and having a thoroughly miserable time, trying to remain polite as you're 200 miles from home and need to get back somehow. & if you do ride a bike, yet the morning of the rally, something goes wrong with it? You're not "allowed" to go cos you're not on 2 wheels? Takes more than just happening to have 2 wheeled transportation that's on the road on some particular day to define a "biker" in my book.
