BikerMatch - Social site or Dating Site?

The site title Biker Match indicates a dating site but , immediately below that it states A Social Site which in my mind opens the door to all biking enthusiasts. I have met very nice decent people of both genders on this site albeit not in person , also on joining i sent loads of nods in friendship...as my profile states quite clearly i'm married and looking for biking buddies. It does honestly make me happy when a couple hit it off on BM...i sent Ian a nod of congratulations a while back when he and LC became an item so i still use the nod occasionally. Finally IMO this site serves both purposes very well .

Oh no exc, you used a nod to 'congratulate' someone?? This opens a whole new can of worms...

I think it's both. The forums and events give it the social element but I suspect there are many members using the site solely on a profile/nod/PM basis as you would any other dating site but concentrating on people with a similar interest and/or way of life. Forum users are a very small percentage of total members. I guess it depends on how many members use the site without using the forums to tell whether BMs success is as a dating site or as a social site. Personally I think it's as both. I used the site for a few weeks on a profile/PM basis before joining in the forums and 4 of the people in my life now (my partner and 3 very good friends), I first communicated with via PM.

I joined because I wanted to find a big bald tattooed madman and I found one!!!! .I'm taking him to have another big tattoo on his back next Saturday, which should take around 4 hours owch!! Think i'll take a flask and me knittin with me!!!.... Also many people on this site share a spiritual view when it comes to "religion", and I feel comfortable around people who share my outlook on life. "birds of a feather" an all that.
This site is successful as a dating and social site because you can have an insight into how people "tick" before you go down the dating route ( I thought Ian would tick all my boxes,so I reeled him in!!!!!! he he,, lovely man, thanks BM )

Well my current partner was on this site, he sent out a load of winks (as they were then) and I replied, because as a mod its part of the territory to be sociable, so I would like to say, thanks to the other lasses who didnt reply as Mark is a good un. You lot lost out so nah didi nah nah But as I was single, it was a social and dating site, now it is just a social site for me and the pair of us enjoy meeting the rest of you. So I think that this site is whatever you want it to be.

I hink this is a bit of a moot point.

People get out of the site what they want.

A moot point is something open for discussion or debate... Unless vinnie meant the other meaning as in it is irrelevant in which case I disagree. I am interested in how people perceive the site and some good points are being made.

Use moot in a Sentence
–adjective
1. open to discussion or debate; debatable; doubtful: a moot point.
2. of little or no practical value or meaning; purely academic.
3. Chiefly Law. not actual; theoretical; hypothetical.

I took it to mean the second explanation.

I joined for dating; but I am glad to say that it seems to be a lot more than that. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Only been a member a short while but I enjoy the banter. If I am lucky enough to find a lady to fill the pillion…. all the better.

After two years on the site..I am eventually dating some lovely young Yorkshireman who is making me smile...

As I said earlier I only joined for the social side of it...but after a long spell away from BM and coming back in April this year...I am pleased to say I am finally seeing someone special...who knows what will happen...it is too early to say...

I have made so many REAL friends on this site...you know who you are!!! I am also pleased that some friends have returned and found love too..so I am chuffed for them too...LETS HAVE MORE HAPPINESS

How about a 'You're Cute' button.

No ambiguities there.
