*Maybe a revolution is what is needed to shake the parties up*
If nobody went out to vote there wouldn't be any parties and power would be back with the people so why are people going out voting to bring into power any of the current parties if they don't believe in the system???????
Am pretty sure that if nobody went out to vote they would pass a law very quickly to get round it ............... it is a case of ur damned if you do your damned if you dont ............... politicians will always find away to line their pockets and keep their power ............. even if you have revolution you still need some sense of order ............. and there the circle begins again !!!
Does anyone remember a film staring Richard Prior in which he accidently runs for office and the party name was 'non of the above' ... think thats a wicked idea ... parliment has become a huge patomime that we have become used to going ... hooray at times ... boo at other times ... however how long has it been since as voters we have believed the government when they have shouted ... 'we are behind you'
If you don't mark it at all it will be counted as a spoilt paper. They read out the number of spoilt papers, so I guess if the number was really high the politicians might take notice.

I think we should go down to London and burn down the Houses of Parliament (preferably with the MP's inside) then we can build a new one up North where people live in the real world
*Alex if anybody was behind me they wouldnt be able to be seen ......*
Jackie you could bend over and hide us all while we're lighting our matches
The problem is that if a candidate lives in the area they can vote for themself. So even if every single voter spoils their paper somebody will probably still win. That's why I think we need a "None of the above" option, and if it gets the majority of votes it shows what the voters feel.
I think a hung parliament i will be a bad thing, as has already been said. It's not the dream-come-true we all think it is.
I think that whoever gets put into power, they need to do 2 major things...
1) Shake up the political system
2) Give 'the people' more power to vote on issues.
Just because we vote one party into power, doesn't mean we agree with all their policies. I don't think there's one UK citizen who agrees 100% with one party's policies. So I really think that whoever gets in should put more votes to the UK people, at least on major issues
Simple answer. Ban party politics. Elected politicians work to achieve their election promises and can be voted out, by those that elected them, if they don't.
Party politics does not equal a democracy.
