I must admit I just talk about this site as "BM, my on-line Bike club". I really like Sandi's idea of BeeEmers, however could this then get construed as a BMW riders club?? & also as Sandi says Matt, what about those who already have T shirts & Hoodies etc?
As you said, I think for the active members BM has become more than a dating site. However as Roachy has said, what about those members who are not active on the forums etc who do just use this as a dating site?.......however thinking about it, maybe a change in name may encourage them to participate more?? .It's a minefield...good luck
being a bit thick here (no change there then ) but y change at all u come on here as a dating site and u find that its so much more then u tell your mates about it and they come on here for the social side and find a partner not every one came on here for the dating side but they still came on its very clear on the profiles what peeps wont and if they are dating or not and the forums keep peeps informed of what going on and the staff(volenters )help when u need help the chat room is friendly to all the new peeps that wonder in there

On the other hand some companies wont even advertise on BM because they don't wanna be "associated with a dating site". MCI Tours that was when Geoff was trying to set up a possibly great partnership that would have helped MCI and BM massively. Still think MCI are foolish not jumping at the chance to work with the biggest biker social site in the UK!

i think the name is fine but emphasis on social networking side needs to be more obviouse as there is a good following on that side !

Personally I dislike the word 'meets' I always refer to the BM get-togethers as 'gatherings'
Isn't a meet, just an abbreviation for 'meeting'? Which to me puts me in mind of business rather than pleasure. Just MHO. No offence to all those who say 'meet(s)'
Stella, BMW are referred to as Beemers, my suggestion for BM's new name is the sound of the initials B M so therefore Bee Emm being the site and Bee Emmers the members. It's not easy trying to get my meaning across on here lol
Sandi - I get what your saying..as in Bee Em that's why I said I liked it, cos that's what we all usually refer to this site as. But, I just thought that it could get confusing for new peeps seeing it for the first time.
Must admit though, I think I'm with leaving it as it is. Maybe just have/add the initials BM & promote the social aspect more?
On reflection I also think it should be left as BM, showing the initials on clothing with "a great biking community" or something like that underneath.
Think I've said before I can't bring myself to wear a top with "Biker Match" on it which is a shame as I'm fortunate enough to get to quite a few venues/meets etc and able to promote the site. And of course it assists newbies being able to spot a BM'er .

I have a BikerMatch Hoody and a BikerMatch Tshirt and I wear them both regularly, in fact the hood on my hoody has faded cos I wear it on my bike and cos the rest is under my bike jacket the hood has faded more than the top itself..............so a free sample of the new one would be good ... You know I will be using it to promote the site, Boss
Seriously though, If I'm going to meets especially where I know newbies will be, I try to wear it as It has the site name as well as my name (Karey) on the back, but I have to admit when I'm at Squires and doing the long walk through the car park to the bar with hundreds of eyes on you, I do feel a bit..errrm...errr... silly? sometimes...
But to have 'BM' and some kind of slogan underneath like ..
'Biking for Bikers' or 'Bikers Matter' ( i know.. i know..its naff, but I'm multi-tasking here...lol) .. would be a good idea
ok then i think we will stick with then current name. A new name would have to be fantastic for me to change considering the expense it will involve (all the new promotions).
If anyone can come up with a good t-shirt deisgn with BM on then I'll ask Alex to get it made up at the printers.

Matt if you want to distance this site from being a dating site and concentrate on promoting it as an events/meets/rally site to rake in the cash from advertising and sponsorship......you should at least put that message across to people before they join and shell out their hard earned spondoolicks........isn't there something about false advertising in the consumer act?
what? That doesn't make sense fella. The site is what it is.... was a dating site originally but the members steered it towards events and socialising more.
Members who pay to have a full account have adverts removed from the site. Our advertisers pay to keep the site free for those who just want a free account.

Biker32, BM is a dating site, there are 45,000 (almost) members on here, and a VERY small percentage use the forums & social side, lots use it for dating, & not all who use it for dating use the forums or go to meets, however lots do & many members have met up 1st at a meet or ride out & then gone on to have a relationship.
Matt, how about Biker Match & Meets ? covers both angles then?

Name would have to be short, easy to spell, catchy and even rhyming if possible.
Biker Match sounds like Strike a Match so kinda sticks in your head.
I'm gonna get a pen and paper now to see if I can make a B and M stick nicely together somehow.
