Agree with Andy and RC. Profile pics should show your face, whether or not you are shown with a partner. As for the pic with a partner, it does clearly show that you are attached and if your pic links with somebody else on here (as in the case of me and Andy) then it is surely good advertising that the site works!
matt - when i wrote that comment i didnt realise you had to be a full member to access all the photos......but i still think the point is valid - do you see BM primarily as a dating website or a social network site? If its the former then you surely wouldnt expect people to stay once theyre hooked up....but they do!
KG, thanks-- ive reworded the option to save confusion (highlighting the OR in the middle. Some people think it's fine to post a pic of their bike, even without them on it, so i had to put it as an option).
I see the site now mainly as a social site, but the core of members are here for dating. So it's kinda dating with a social twist. I've no idea lol - you guys make it what you want. :-D
Even if only half the people are here for dating, they will soon leave if all they can see is bikes in the search pages.
41 Only photos clearly identifying the member 27 Photos of member or with partner only, not big groups though 6 Photos of anything, I'm not bothered 0 Photos of member *OR* his/her bike (without the person on!) 0 Photos in groups, but only of people. Unable to identify who the member is!
Ok, here's my input.
Some sites allow you have more than one photo on display, instantly visible on your profile. So you could have one of you, one of your bike, and one of your chicken doing a handstand. If those happen to be the 3 pics that most represent you and your personality.
Would that be possible? Or does the website design not allow. You know and then you could add extra folders, as is the curren state.
If it remains as it is, i like to see a pic of who im talking to.
However if i want to view there other pics, it shows as a viewing, and makes you look like a stalker, in the "who viewed you section". Lol.
I think IMO, to be honest Matt its something you could do with sending out to all members ,
When you look at the number of members who do or can use the forums compared to the number of members the site has it is minute, it would not really be right to make a decision based on the view only of those who use the forums, after all this is really more the social side of the site, than the dating side
I like to see a face, if its a couple looking for friends then both,,,, dont care if the arse is on a bike in the pic,,, just the so long as the name/s ty up with the pic,,,, and id like to see more people and diection wise women putting photos up, if ya going to meet someone you got to be seen at some point,,, always seems pointless paying not to be seen

There are people on here with profile pics which include partner / kids / grandkids / famous racers etc. and they're all good as long as you can plainly see who on the pic actually "owns" that profile.
Not everyone joins BM to find a partner, so they don''t really need to "impress" with a cool photo (looking like a dick on a big boat that's not yours for instance, lol), but it is nice to see who you're talking to and be able to recognise them if you meet.
Why should matt have to send it out to all members
The goverment do that for all elections and less than half vote
If thay cant be bothered to look at the forums and vote how will sending them a pm help ?
Sorry did I miss the part of membership that says you have to keep an eye on the forums and visit them regularly????
As Sandi pointed out it can be put in the news letter it doesn't have to be a pm
Sorry JP but I find that comment quite crass when as I said the VAST MAJORITY of members are here for dating not socialising and see the forums as a venue for the social side of the site, rides out, meet ups etc not arranging dates for people, and lots of those are fully paid up members
.
As for people voting in elections same thing ,,, its called choice, you have the option to vote if you don't then its a choice you have ... You don't get ... Well you couldn't be bothered to read the telegraph news paper so you don't get a say.
I think that the profile photo should clearly show the member, head and shoulders preferably. If your photo has your partner included, then this is a statement to say that you are not available for a relationship but does not exclude meeting new friends (if that's what your profile states).
We could interpret Biker Match as a dating site or for matching like minded people as friends. I get the impression that the social networking element of the site is probably as active, if not more active than the dating parts. However it can be seen from the forums that the success rate of the dating side is really good.
I didn't join BM to find a partner, I joined to find riding buddies and a female pillion. The reason for a female pillion was because they are generally lighter and I can talk about more things with a woman than I can with a man. As it turned out I did meet a partner, never say never.
I think it's a bit context sensitive, if you're looking for a partner then your main profile shot should be an up to date, decent picture of yourself. If you're looking for friends then I don't see that it matters as much. So I agree with Weirdoraptor in this, heck, I even resorted to using a torch at the Christmas meet ;p
I do also agree with Shell, some awareness outside of the forums would be better. As the forums alone could miss a large demographic of the site.
Unfortunately you can never please everybody and it doesnt matter what decision is made after this vote, there will always be some who dont agree :)
IMO your profile pic should show YOU, whether you are here for dating or social, most folk like to see who their talking too, well i do anyways lol
If they read it or not, vote or not, that's not the point, the point is in a news letter or pm they have all been told about it, posting to a forum which is not used by all members is excluding those who do not for whatever reason use it.
