I have to have a medical every 5 years and take a 37 hour course CPC ( Certificate of Professional Competence )every 5 years in order to keep my HGV license. Being self employed I have recently been driving for Tesco's , before driving for them I had a 100 question test on the highway code, followed by a driving test before starting work, this is by no means unusual for a Blue Ribbon Company . If it means keeping the roads a safer place to be driving on whats wrong when reaching a certain age with every motorist having a highway code and eye test ?
Mickey moo, At present at 70 you have to make a declaration about your health, including eye sight. You also have to do thesame when applying for a licence at any age. There are talks about changing things for the over 70's, such as medicals.
The day of reckoning approaches for me!
