I have to have a medical every 5 years and take a 37 hour course CPC ( Certificate of Professional Competence )every 5 years in order to keep my HGV license. Being self employed I have recently been driving for Tesco's , before driving for them I had a 100 question test on the highway code, followed by a driving test before starting work,this is by no means unusual for a Blue Ribbon Company . If it means keeping the roads a safer place to be driving on whats wrong when reaching a certain age with every motorist having a highway code and eye test ?

Mickey moo, At present at 70 you have to make a declaration about your health, including eye sight. You also have to do thesame when applying for a licence at any age. There are talks about changing things for the over 70's, such as medicals. The day of reckoning approaches for me!

dn yes that's right but you can always lie about it , and as a lot of peoples eye sight start to deteriorate in their forty's it s a big joke.

Done Ok I took my time, but I think that we all should consider what we sign 1st. I get worse as I get older,
