Intonet, if they dont give you the time off, I know for certain there is a nasty flu type bug going to be doing the rounds in about a months time. It is really nasty and debilitating, you feel so bad when at work the only cure is to spend a few days in the fresh air listening to good music and having a good time chilling in the company of like minded people. Your doctor doesn't have a prescription for this cure, you will have to self medicate by taking a few days off on the sick. I hope you dont catch this bug, but you never know when you will need this remedy!

OK, having gone down to Matlock for the day I realise just how far it is to Middle Earth so I am very seriously considering foregoing the bike in favour of much load-carrying capacity (for my headgear), comfort and diesel cheapness with the car. Of course this means leaving the bike to be de-restricted back home, but that allows all you mechanically minded helpful types more drinking time (aren't I thoughtful?) and I've not heard that there's a ride out planned anyway. It also means I would have space for passengers and/or gear if anyone wants a lift or things taken down. Direct route is down M74 and M6 to Penrith after which could carry on on M6 or take A66 to Scotch Corner and then A1(M) south - still early days and undecided, but if it helps anyone else please let me know. x
