I was up near Mallaig last weekend staying at a place near Loachailort.
It was a 4 day bash staying with another group from another site at one of the guys B and B's. He warned us of the dangers of the road from glenginnan to lochailort and it goes like this (copied from the other site).....
Ok from Glenfinnan you hit 2 straights then go down a big hill double bends and for 4 miles the tarmac is shot slippery as hell with oil contamination which wicks up each time it rains. 22 accidents in the 8 weeks The rest of the roads are brilliant this bit has a problem with 1 accident per week every week just between Glenfinnan and Lochailort. As you round the loch from Glenfinnan there is a new shiney crash barrier on the left we are 2.5 miles from there.
The crash barrier he refers to is where in autumn last year his daughter and her friend went of the road, upside down into the loch and drowned.
Other than that particular road, you will have a great time!!!!
Oh and if its a bit choppy on the ferry, you will need to wash your bikes down afterwards unless you want to ride a pile of rust as the spray comes over the bow where your bikes will be .
thanks for the info on the road at lochilord to mallaig i new of 8 acciedents this side of the year this is a well used road and old it has 1 in 8 hills and and 180 bends as im up that way i will check it out thanks mungybear
