Noddy1 @ 23/04/2012 14:02

I only have leathers.. If its to warm then it will only be bra and niks underneath for me

Chris you can count me out for the ring.. I dont trust myself on there and I know I will wipe out.. Cant afford recovery & track closure or even a new bike

DEB NO wimping out - the throttle works both ways . I have never been round either so we can go round nice and steady together, but you cant go all that way and not do the main event!!

britsingle @ 23/04/2012 14:32

No Debs u aint wimping out, we are doin it two up & steady, im sure you can go round at our pace ......bra & nicks? thermals more like

Do I get a Blue Peter badge if I complete the circuit?

Thermals? Now whos the wimp?

Deleted User @ 23/04/2012 14:58

I wear textiles tbh mostly and thermals works both ways in hot or cold weather. Bike gear is really down to choice but I find textiles for touring better as leather isn't as flexible so over a long day it's easier to live with.

In regards to the ring I usually take a run round at a slower pace with a pily so anyone is welcome to tag along

hay peeps hope you lot are doing well, 5 days cant believe its hear already , cant wait for my first when were over there, what was that Chris? first round for 21 thirsty bikers is on you did you say lol

finally got a bike whoop whoop , last weekend i got a trumpit st 955 so i got breakdown cover also lol, altho after i finished haggling with the price im sure the nice guy would have wished he had chris,s violin to hit me across the head with just to make me stop and go away lol but good all round experience so im happy

well i was up until only the second night little buggering kids managed to get into the underground car park, they stole someones mountain bike and cut another neighbors ignition wires on his 1 year old speed triple, and on my 2 day old bike they snapped the steering lock and knacked the ignition barrel where they had rammed a screw driver into it to try and get it started , thankfully when the police caught them (i was out at the time) they never dropped it and at least they never managed to steel it,

triumph were wanting £350 just for a new lock set and £150 fitting but managed to get perfect condition used parts from ebay for £100 and with some help from a mate who i bribed rather successfully with cups of tea and packets of picked onion monster munch managed to fix everything just like it never happed

so to cheer the trumpit up a bit as she was looking a bit depressed i blow a small fortune on her exhausts that pop and bang, new screen, and a whole load of other fun stuff so she will be happy once again,

il get some pics up but if anyone one was to see the bike just now thay will think its been attacked by those pesky kids again, as currently its in bits, screens off, dash is off, side panels is off, tank is off, handle bars is off, exhaust is off, and a whole load of other stuff to fit all the new parts, 5 days to go and there are nuts and bolts and wires and bike parts everywhere, i wonder who many spare parts im gona be left with this time, oh joys lol

ive never take bike security seriously but after this il be looking it alarms ect to keep it a bit safer

hay debs if my wet misery managed to make you giggle then my soggy suffering will have been more than worth it lol and men will be men altho i dont know how attractive the soggy wet poodle look is but not very i imagine lol ps if you dont want to ride round the ring your welcome to jump on the back of mine especially if your only gona be in your bra and nicks lol, that will have a good advantage tho as it will stop crazy ringers flying past us at mach 10 in there vw jetta,s lol they will be too busy trying to follow us leaving the road ahead nice and clear

noddy, how you doing mate, i find a gore text textile jacket with gore text boots and leather pants to be the safest comfiest and most versatile combo, because when the sky do open up all it takes is to pop on a pair of water proof trousers over your leathers and swap your gloves over for again gore tex ones (berghaus deluge trousers easly the best ive ever had) and your ready for any amount of rain, having waterproof rucksack/tank bag/ panniers is also something may want to consider i find kreiga stuff to be excellent,

thegasman, blackbirds are awesome bikes especially in candy blue, almost bought one, altho i found a better screen makes a good difference and bars from a vtec vfr makes it a lot comfier as every part of the bike was designed to go fast which made the seating position a bit of a stretch to the bars, but very very easy to be going licance loosing quick with the bike not even braking a sweet

chris hope your doing ok mate, i remember first time i went think it was around 2006 ring prices were negligible think they were only around 8 euros and with exchange being around 1.6 euro to the pound, i think il probably just do a couple of laps are 50 quid our money is a lot of beer lol looking forward to going now well once i put the bike together again lol , im hopefully gona take the bike for a spin to newcastle and back on thurs/fri to make sure everything is sorted and to have a fiddle with the suspention setting as at the moment there all over the place far too much preload on the front and backend needs a wee tweek, but ready to hit the road

hay debs ah you got me figured out all wrong , i was more thinking along the lines of a having a nice clear track in front of me, i remember last time i went there was a surprising amount of traffic on the ring, having said that i wounder if the increase on lap prices have had an effect on the amount of cars/bikes/vans/buses ect on the track/road

the bike trac looks interesting ill have to have a closer look, i wounder if the bike is stolen and put in the back of a van if the unit looses it signal but sapose as soon as the bike is off loaded then it will get its signal and alert the owner to the bikes location, really good idea never seen that before and if it prevents a thief from taking it in the first place then defo worth the money

Walker... You get a message and a call from Road Angel whether the bike is slightly moved or if the battery is disconnected or low.. Its great.. I had a call from them last week.. I forgot to switch the ignition on before taking bike off stand before embarking off the ferry at Dover... It notified myself and Road Angel of movement...

If the battery is disconnected it will send out a signal for up to 30 days..

You can also monitor where the bike is or where it has been.. It leaves a bread crumb type mark on a map so you can look over your previous journeys... I love it plus its a piece of mind because I live in a flat and dont have a garage..

Noddy... Best rate I have found is 1.20

£503.91 gives me €605

Not going to beat that rate so ordered mine to be delivered on Friday..

Once at Medway
There is a Brewers fare about a 2 min bike run away so thought we could do same as last year and head down once rooms are sorted. A bit of scoff and blether to break the ice.

Once in France I plan on getting out of the port and stopping at a toilet stop about 2 miles along the motorway. Everyone then can sort themselves out with out hundreds of cars, trucks and everything else getting in way.

Rough plan for week......

Monday
Run to show what's around the place and descend on Cochem for lunch next to Mosel river then back to hotel for dinner.
Tues
Mohne Dam back for dinner
Wed
Run with hotel owners and picnic finishing of at underwater volcano, then out for meal in town with owners at a local restaurant
Thurs
Free day so you can go do your own thing as plenty around to do/see
Friday
Head to Belgium

Nurburgring subject to open days/times and what the weather is doing

Nurburgring open days while we're there

30.04.2012 (Mon)

08:00–19:00 Uhr

02.05.2012 (Wed)

Dinner:
- Sun - on the road to Germany

- Mon - buffet at hotel

- Tue - in town with owners

- Wed - buffet at hotel

- Thur - free to go anywhere
- Fri - Possible barbie

These are all rough ideas and can change due to weather, roads or needs of the tour. Breakfast and the picnic is included in hotel price as well as Wednesdays guided tour . As a note the breakfasts is a buffet which has a mix of hot and cold food...the scrambled egg has bacon though it and is spot on

Could everyone meet here
Sun 29th: 8am petrol station Jubilee Way on the A2 junction prior to ferry so we can all turn up together. This is the first roundabout as you head up A2 from Dover
Head down to ferry port at 8:25 Please note ferry book in is 45 mins prior to sailing

Dover ferry 09:25am P&O Dover to Calais 1.5hr arriving 11:55 (+1hr EST) This is so when we get off the ferry we're together so we don't get mixed in with other bikers I have 20 bikes to look after so this will help me keep it all together

Anything amiss let me know ASAP I have a few replies to do but matters are in hand to sort requests from ones that are waiting.

As a note to folk still wanting to come

if your not on this list or you haven't spoken to me your not going until you have

Germany is booked and allocated through me so if there is a problem you see me. The money for Germany pays for all the extras on top of a fantastic hotel to stay in (at no extra cost to you).

If you have a question, problem, issue or not sure you see me

Hope that is clear enough
