In the absence of a "What made you hang your head in shame?" thread, this'll do...

I'm drowning in a sea of paperwork... but yay! I found my P45 and my P60 and my tax deducted interest certificates etc... go me!

Then I discover I was supposed to register for making my tax return online by the 21st. Ooops!

I owe the princely sum of £12.80 and I'm going to be saddled with a £100 fine on top - d'oh! Stupid cow...

fought the 31st was the deadline for payments

It is the deadline for payments, but you have to register for the online service by the 21st so they can post you your login details... pointless, but true!

& quite clearly stated on the paperwork that I filed in the "Round Tuit" pile! ;o)

These days, if you want to do a paper return, it's by the 31st October & I'd hidden my P60 a little too well to do it by then.

Ring your tax office - they may accept a debit card payment

The payment's not a problem... it's just the actual "paperwork" part of the tax return... you have to get both the payment and the calculations in on time...

No excuse - just gotta put my hands up to it.

*shrugs*

What? No rants for nigh on a month?!

Blimey... You can tell I've been absent!

Today's rant is why oh why oh why can't I damn well sleep??? I've run out of sheep to count. I'm completely exhausted. I've tried all my usual tricks, but nothing doing.

About 4am today, I believe I very nearly dozed off... then had a 10 minute long sneezing fit. Curse this (wo)manflu!

*tuts* My lovely bank decided to pay 2 standing orders I'd cancelled... which meant there wasn't enough cash to pay for my internet... ooops! (Not to mention my secured loan - ye gads they're nervous at the moment! One missed payment and they're threatening repossession! ) So I'm AWOL for a bit... no need to send out the search parties just yet though Should be back to annoy everyone soon enough...

Strangely I'm reconnected without having paid them.... Hmmm... At least something's working in my favour atm!

Today's rant is regarding job hunting... ye gads! Now I am totally not fussy about what I do for work, so long as it's work. But I'm not travelling 50 miles each way for minimum wage on a 4 hour shift FFS! Personally I don't think that's unreasonable.

Unbelievable... You'd think it'd be fairly simple to grab any old job... but oh no... "experience essential"... for picking & packing? Cleaning? Shelf stacking? Flippy neck! How hard can it be?

I finally resorted to the dreaded care working, which I've heard has a HUGE shortage in my area. Really don't fancy it, but needs must. Nope. Sodding experience! So how the hell do folk from Poland manage to get on the agency that provides the care workers for my Dad? I know damned well they're not experienced, they're all mechanics, accountants, shop workers & basically everything BUT care workers back home.

*screams*

*and relax*

That's better. Back to the search for gainful employment...

I can sympathise, WB. Some time ago, after a long fruitless search in my own area of work, I said "Right, first job that comes along, I'll go for it, no matter how demeaning or unpleasant". So I bought the local rag, and turned to the job section:- 1st job: Pig Person Wanted. The catch? Degree in Animal Husbandry required, with at least 3 years post-qualification experience. Oh well, back to E-bay!
