What I came here to post? I got reading the posts and now I've forgotten what...oh aye I remember now Ever wondered... ...why 2 Magpies and one very large Crow keep fighting in the tree in my garden. The racket they make is horrendous lol it sounds like match day when the Magpies get going with their 'rattle' I thought Magpies were quite big birds til I saw them next to the crow Anyone got any idea why they are fighting?

Magpies are very terrortorial birds. They may have a nest near by. The crow will have a hard time if he is after their young.

Ta for explanation David. No nest in the tree, it's not the kind of tree that would safely hold one, it's an Ash (so I'm told) maybe the crow visited their nest elsewhere and they aren't letting it forget. I wonder who is watching over the nest while the two Magpies are giving the crow a hard time? Seems odd it's only this year they are fighting, I've been in this house 5 yrs, it's never happened before

I get a lot of magpies in my garden as there are lots of large trees. They quite often make a racket but not always due to fighting. I can't think what else they would be up to . Any ideas?
