Hi buzz, I got up to 53kph for the emergency stop and it was on that when I locked the back wheel, but it was only a bit and I got it under control, that's why I'm a bit miffed at it being marked as a serious fault and a fail. I know it was my mistake, putting back brake on too soon but also I've recently had the back brakes done so they were a bit "better" than they had been previously
Ang, this Mod 1 really gets my back up.
I can't beleive we get a fail for something like that. Surely a slight back brake lock isn't THAT serious??
Just like I'm sure the slight underspeed I had, isn't THAT serious??
Surely the fact that we managed to bring the bike to a controlled stop, with the front wheel in a 2ft square is proof that we are more than capable of riding properly?
Yer not wrong girls
It's all bo****ks
IMO the majority of testers are "jobs-worths"
Who have only ever gone through the "official" training
From when they first learned how to ride
So they only know "by the book"
I encountered many many during MY time as chief instructor
And that was quite a while ago
So it can only be worse now
But as stated previously, I've been "out of the loop"
So to speak, so as always, this is only
MY OPINION

Ya see your making the big mistake that these people can think for themselves. they only have two boxes on there little forms to tick. giving them a third choice with no tick box would make their anally retentive heads explode.
It took me two goes to pass the test 30 years ago. mind you first time i took it on a c90.
well good luck to everyone taking their tests before january 2013 ~(and after of course!), i be willing you all to pass and join us out there on the roads minus ya L plates with big smiles on ya faces
i dont envy you at all having to do mod 1 and all the stupid malarky its ridiculous i think and you is well deserved once you have passed - you can do it
there you go lisa... get it done .... like i nagged erm mentioned lol at matlock your ridings pretty good just sharpen up your life savers and you got it in the bag
and to all the other peeps on loony plates whenever the test enjoy the day and good luck
well done hrc .. 53 is the perfect speed i was talking about .. did the drawing / explination help at all ?? . yes it is very harsh that he failed you for that . we have had students do the same as you explained and passed !!! . maybe he was having a bad day ?
How can an examiner mark according to whether they're having a bad day or not, surely the criteria are the same the length and breadth of England, the learner either gets it right, according to the criteria stated by the government, or they don't, or am I wrong again?
You are right Sandi, but you know how people can be. Like when the boss has a bad day, everyone suffers. He could have shown some leniency in Ang's case as she controlled the bike.
well, step 2 taken - (Step 1 - CBT done (again) last year!) Theory test passed this am.......
Now need to pull me finget out & get some more riding in & a few lessons to go for the Mod 1!......
I would say when the weather's better....but that could be never!
& yep I agree Dave, I think Ang has had a raw deal! is there any appeal at all? even if it's get the mod 1 done again but for free??
David, in that case then Ange should get another go at it.
My last test was a nitemare as the examiner was in a right strop, no idea if it was ME that caused it, being a bike rider and not a car driver, or whether he was just generally a miserable 2hat! lol
Well done Hfg. If I were you I would ride in all weathers as you don't know what the weather will be like on the day of your test.
Regarding appeals and second chances I am not sure how easy that will be. But fortunately the Mod 1 is the cheapest part of the procedure. Mod 2 is the easiest but more expensive.
Julz (pb) what test did you take?
Congratulations, Stella - looking forward to a celebratory pint or 3 now
If I was going to appeal it would have been at my second go on mod 1 as I got through it fine apart from not getting up to the dreaded 50kph on the very last manoeuvre - that was more gutting as I really thought I'd done it. I was a bag of nerves last week so even though I kept the bike under control it was nowhere near as good as I did the time before.
@pb
trying (and failing!) to get that dratted watermelon in the fridge!!!!
Was that Melon 1 or Melon 2
I am still trying to adjust to my age, but then another bl**dy birthday comes along
