Petrol stations are only scarce when you get north of the Kyle, and they're usually 24hr credit card pumps anyway.
A weekend trip to Scotland for me is about 1400 miles, so I'm sure a wee blatt there an' back is nothing. Chester to Fort William is around about 340 miles, and takes about 6hrs or so, so as long as you're fore-warned, you're fore-armed so to speak
ah yeah Iain but you're marathon man when it comes to "weekend trips"! I don't do more than 200 mls a day normally! much more than that and I cant walk!
hehe Right enough Debs, but for Dizzy's sake, I thought I'd reply. It looks good on a map, reality is somewhat different, as you know. If you've never done it, you don't know what to expect, and we've both done it, so benefit of experience an' all that :)
Im not going from chester, im going from south west corner of scotland hopefully with kwakgirl, still gonna be a long trek from here tho. im just getting a bit lost with all this talkin about camp site fees and bookin in advance. an places being full up......im gonna share with Dusty.pmsl....as he seems to know what hes doing.lol
I'm always looking for an excuse to go back up to my old neck o' the woods, so I may be knocking around for this one...We'll see what happens, I'll be checking the thread with interest from time to time
CUMBERLANDS campsite in fort Augustas do not require you to prebook unless you want an electric hookup . They expect up to 2 dozen tents of BMers. Dusty x
Hiya Dizzy, it's 73 miles from your's to Morrisons/Asda at Dumbarton. I'm more than happy to meet up for lunch and then continue up together on '' The bonny , bonny banks of Loch Lomond'' Dusty xx p.s. Naughty !
can whoever is going to loch ness early, or taking a different route let Richard now (sunseaandfun) the organiser of the other loch ness event on at the weekend 19th july so that he nows the exact numbr hes gonna be riding wi, just so that he aint sitting around waiting for someone who has already left fir the loch.
kwakgirl and me will be leavin on the wednesday as she canna get the time off work any earlier so Im gonna wait and come with here....Dusty is on th road tho....
The ride up I'm waiting at Tesco Carlisle (M6 jct43) until 10:00am to meet anyone from 'darn sarf' or wherever . I suppose Morrisons/Asda Dumbarton is a good spot to meet AND THEN ,,,,,, The beauty and the majesty begins,
The glorious ride up through Loch Lomond and beyond mwah, woohoo
Too bloody right. The best riding there is up there In fact I'm off up to Glencoe next weekend. I'll check out the condition of the shellgripped corners while I'm there
Just to let BMers from further down the Country know. Carlisle is a small town but has plenty of overnight accommodation. Premier Inn (two) a travelodge and plenty of b&bs . Dusty x
Come on folks, get your name down on here and/or on the the calendar
