Agree with you Drobess
This is all like asking the question Am I a pensioner riding a bike or a Senior Lady havin a Girlie Moment and Lovin it. (see my profile. lol)
I love this topic when it comes up!!! And it does over and over, on all the time on bike forums. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Every time everyone has a different idea and view what a Biker, motorcyclist, fake biker is.
For me I don’t class myself as “Biker”,” motorcyclist”, and surely not a “fake biker” I am a person that just loves riding my bike, going to rallies, mixing with other people with the same interests.
I have a car which I have to use for work, and other times when it is more practical than using the bike. So does this make me a part time biker? (Who Know?)

I have ridden bikes, and gone to rallies for over 20 years. I have owned and had a bike on the road for 20 odd years bar, the 4 years, when I had a really bad bike accident, and when I was unable to ride went out on back of mates bikes, and as soon as I could ride I used lead me brother bike while I was waiting for insurance to pay up As soon as I got the money i ran out and brought a brand new bike.

If I won the lottery tomorrow I would buy loads of bikes and travel the world on them till the money run out… So what does this make me?? “Bike”. “Motorcyclist”, or a “fake biker”. Lol I don’t care, I am a person , and individual and don’t want to be classed as any of them ……..
The only reason I would put a label on myself would be if I knew I was going to have too much falling down water at a rally, so those that found me could read my label and know who I was and where to take me home to.
I got a bike to get a life
LOl Cruiser gal
I have lots of lables in my clothes, just incase i should get lost at a rally. most of them say "please return me to the bar", lol the other lables say buy me a drink hehe......
Personally I think I'm an Recreational Motorcycle Enthusiast, I've had bikes since I was 16, rallied most of my life, tried racing (badly), toured in europe, India and Thailand etc etc. I do have a beard and a leather waistcoat (need it for the pockets) dont have a bandana or badges.
There are a lot of "fake bikers" you see loads of plonkers in brando jackets/ zandanas/ warrior moto-x boots/wallet chained to arse etc who have never even sat on a bike usually to be found in rock clubs. The definition has changed a lot over the years though, a lot of colour matched sports bike types turn up at rallies these days and a number of the hairy arsed lot go racing.
As long as people behave reasonably and treat other people decently they can call themselves anything they want for me, I think attitude is the main criterion some people have the mind set some just dont get it and never will.
Alice, its never to late to be anything but early. If you enjoy what you do and harm no one else doing it you can call yourself whatever you like in my book.
I know plenty of long term bike riders who loathe being called a biker as well as a fair few tossers who feel the title is more important than anything else.
Be who you are, enjoy what you do and don't let anyone else define who you are
