If you're being picky about spelling/correct grammar then your's should be yours, there is no apostrophe.

Sandi @ 20/11/2009 00:34

shouldn't there be an apostrophe for ownership?

Matt, where would ya put the apostrophe in the word ownership?? or is the word two words, owner's hip? (Interesting how you called it 'karma crap' at least we agree on something lol)

Sandi @ 20/11/2009 00:40

no there was a comma there! lol I meant that Geoff put your's, as in ownership. Belonging to. Should an apostrophe not be used? I would have

No there is never an apostrophe in the word yours no matter which context it's used in, but I may be incorrect lol

Yea but even those who aren't so good at spelling can still be understood, if they speek how they tork it's still readable, but maths, if ya don't get it right it's always wrong, if ya see what I mean? and I aint too good at maths. Should that have an apostrophe? lol math's as it's an abbreviation.

I've never been a fan of Karma so the changes will not be changing my life. I would also comment on the written use of English that while some people may be dyslexic, I accept that they have to write phonetically. Nevertheless, I have difficulty in reading it because I have to sound the word to understand it. What does really wind me up is text speak. There's a reason for using it with mobile phones but with a full sized keyboard on a computer, there's no need for it.

Oh and apostrophes - they're so often misused especially for plurals but there's advice in the (Christian) Bible. Look it up in the Acts of the Apostrophes.

Well spotted Kwak. I always like to put at lease one spelling misstake in my posts simply as a means of appeering human.

Just for Auntie lol Apostrophes should not be used with possessive pronouns because possessive pronouns already show possession — they don't need an apostrophe. His, her, its, my, yours, ours are all possessive pronouns. Here are some examples: <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />wrong: his' book correct: his book wrong: The group made it's decision. correct: The group made its decision. (Note: Its and it's are not the same thing. It's is a contraction for "it is" and its is a possessive pronoun meaning "belonging to it." It's raining out= it is raining out. A simple way to remember this rule is the fact that you don't use an apostrophe for the possessive his or hers, so don't do it with its!) wrong: a friend of yours' correct: a friend of yours

I must admit I am totally confused by this Kharma business..it seems to have caused more problems than anything else...I personally am not bothered whether my Kharma is low high or whatever...being in the top 20 doesn't necessarily mean I am being contacted all the time or that I am contacting other BMers all the time...it is also bit like the debate on nods...Matt you are not going to please all of the people all of the time!

In respect of the english language...I do find it annoying when it is misused and misinterpretated. I dislike text speak. I do respect that not everyone has an A in english language and I find it a bit unfair at the mere thought of penalising those who have difficulty with literacy in any form whether they be dyslexic or not.

Can we just express ourselves simply and to the point - thank you!

So what's the odds on BJ missing/adding an apostrophe over the next 24 hours ?
