My photo was taken about a month ago when I went to ChaVbot and Doris's house warming at the new warden control bungalow they had just moved into.
Gosh hope plastic Mable and Numb Skull Norman don't beat me into getting the bungalow next door after seeing how cosy ChaVbot and Doris have made theirs, Plastic Mable always said she wouldn't go into a warden controlled place but has changed her mind now.
bet some of you newbies will think I have lost the plot but those of old will know I haven't its just I haven't been updating you all on ChaVbot and Doris for a while.
I think the staff have a responsibility to show current photos - if they don't,,,how can the rest of us be reprimanded for it???
And I know some of us have been requested not to change our pics too frequently as it causes a lot of work when they have to be re-checked. Again,,,are there double standards going on here???

I have never 'reprimanded' anyone for having an older photo as their main photo.

Not exactly accurate, the request was 'not to keep changing unacceptable photos', it's the constant changing that makes the work. It's also very frustrating when established members keep putting on unacceptable photos when we request that newbies don't do it. Newbies then ask why one rule for themselves and another for others, which isn't the case.
A bit of equality would be good.
I agree, it would be nice if members didn't see it as a personal insult when requested to keep to the rules.
It would also be nice if digs, however subtle they appear, weren't made at me just because I ask for the rules to be followed.

Oh Dear- Misunderstanding or what?
As A paying member I feel we should be allowed to change our photo's when ever we wish,so if it's once or year or ten a year?what the hell! that's why we pay to be on the site, its not about the work involved? it's about keeping a good spirited site, which unfortunately some take far to seriously,
I doubt very much the poster was having any kind of digs, just making an opinion, which by all accounts she's entitled to do,
And anyway's admin need sommut to do! thats constructive, otherwise there would be no positon!for any admin?
And No! Am not having any digs at anybody....................
I think you are misunderstanding what I mean.
There is no objection to changing photos, it's the type of photo that is being asked for, for everyone's MAIN photo for their profile.
This is a social site, where we meet in person, so it's good to be able to at least try to recognise someone from their photo, something that can't be done if it's a photo of a banana or just a bike or any other non member photo.
The problems crop up because most folk don't read the rules before they start posting, then when they are politely asked to read them all hell breaks loose like it's some personal attack.
LOL,I see you have changed your profile piccy Kwak!
I didn't misunderstand anything! I did however read between the lines of your comments.of your first response which was'nt very constructive.
your second response reads far better then the first.Fair play to you.
Yes bikerbitch I change my profile photo quite often, my photos aren't that old, just that since I quit smoking I have changed a bit. Some folk think I'm a lot different, judging by my photos, hence the comments on here about my profile photo yet when anyone meets me they recognise who I am.
Changed mine today.... was taken on Friday 19th March 2010... so it's the most up to date one I have ... until I get the stills from our music vid shoot this week! (wooohooooo!)
Must hold my hand up to be one of those who changes there pic to what i would call random photos rather than inappropriate ones.
I tend to do it more so when in the chat room as a laugh or to match whatever random topic is being discussed, its just for fun on my part. I always change it back to a proper one when i am done.
I appreciate it can cause confusion but it can make folk smile too
Cant see what the fuss is about.... At matlock on sunday there were so many people there that I didn't recognise from their profile pics anyway...... happened at the barn too.... some poor chap at matlock was actually mistaken for me... and you can't get much clearer than my profile pic (taken 6 months ago..) so what does that say.....
Best bit is... you dont even have to have a picture at all....
The only time it would be bad to have a pic thats not you IMO would be if you used a pic of ONJ and in reality looked like susan boyle....
then I would have to hide in the corner and cry
Just playing Devils advocate here (as someone who had her snowman pic removed )
I can understand the need for a full face pic when the site was initially sorted ... its conception was from an idea Matt had for bikers to have a dating site where they can meet other bikers, however by Matt's own admission this week, it has now evolved to be way more than that, & is a very social site & as such we have formed friendships that we would never have done & to be honest many like myself are attached so don't want to meet anyone or are single & don't want to meet anyone, so do not want to 'display themselves' (sorry I know how that sounds & have tried to think of better wording but my brain is frazzled)
So for those people, who yes have paid membership fees to be a member of a social biking site rather than the dating side of things, what is the harm in having a fun pic up ?
Yes I whole heartedly agree that inappropriate content should not be allowed, however its usually just good clean fun.
