Please can i run this topic home again.
Please DO NOT start a New Topic(!) in the forums to say how cold it is outside etc.
These topics are making the forums look cluttered, this sort of chat should be kept to the chatroom.
Use the forums for discussing issues (like the website, dating, bikers, etc), posting information for all to see (i.e. Info you want everyone to know once you've logged out), events organising, introducing yourself as a new user, or other such things.
The weather, or how early in the morning it is, or how much butter you had on your toast this morning... do not require a forum post, nevermind a NEW TOPIC!
Sorry to be a bore, but I wouldn't need to bring this topic back up if people had listened from last week.
Cheers everyone, have a good weekend (Weather's a bit cold though aint it? lol)
well i come on the forums cos they are cluttered and not stiff like lots of other ones, if were having to think very hard about what we put no one would put anything, as for putting topics up on events etc they all get lost on the other pages anyway, as new topics are entered cos non of them are pinned to the top. its like search for the event you know it was here but now 3 pages back !!!!
an why would we want to discuss the website ?? we are here arnt we ? dating whats that all about ?? whos pulled with who an who to avoid on the site, who puts out an who dont bikers well what is there to say they ride bikes !!!
would it not be better for you to clear the boards and pin some new topics like above an we can only put stuff on those and not start our own then thier would be greater control over the forum for you. an no going off track for us !!! cos i dont think this lot can be tamed !!!! me included !!
PS NOT HAVING A GO AT YA MATT JUST VOICING MY THOUGHTS, AND I KNOW IT CAN BE EXSPENSIVE ALL THIS BAND WIDTH BEING TAKEN UP SO SEE YA POINT AS WELL. will help when ya get rid of some of the old topics no doubt
but the forums bring laughter and a sense of belonging and having mates and sometimes more so than a chat room, looking for the jokey new topics etc brightens peeps day
sorry for typing my mind and was in 2 minds about puttin it
I rarely go in the chat room myself, only when I'm really in the mood for it. Having said that, I can kinda see Matt's point.
I will use the Bikegirl Forum as an example as it's one of the one's I frequent most. Most, if not all posts are bike related in one way or another. People post quite a few jokes and funny stories, but for the most part, all the topics are bike related.
Soooo, in conclusion, Matt does have a point, but having said that, it keeps the forum ticking over. Although I have come on in a morning, to find nothing has been posted sine I was on the previous day.
