Time we started bumpin this up we're still on the second page, bit of a shame as there are so many going to this Rally, anyone going from my neck o the woods....letiz nah!
Ed az in Ledd 777.
Karey i think there are some meeting at Squires from your neck o the woods, think i'll have a nice quite run down instead of the usual 80 90 mph dash....time for a chill pill! x
Hi Ledd
Yeh I'm meeting some others at Squires Friday morning...
I meant we need a meet up point at the Farmyard, cos people are going to be camping all over.
Something like 8pm Friday night outside the main marquee..or Saturday 2pm at the chill out tent.. ( these are just suggestions..lol)
What do others think?
Good idea, not sure where I'm camping yet as my lot are arriving in 2 parties.
Friday evening sounds a good plan as none of us know where we'll be at sat afternoon - village, beer tent etc etc etc
See you there everyone
Yeh definately agree Ady.. Saturday is a a must in the town centre,
Does anyone know if the bus is running this year?
What about Friday 8pm for a meet then? where's best?
Kaz i think Bill will probably have the BM flag with him hoisted high so members can find us however that sounds like a good idea for the friday nite meeting at the beer tent. x
Is Sutton Bank closed or something? Or are you all just being cautious with a fully-laden bike? Curious you all keep mentioning it.
My plan is to leave at dawn to miss the traffic around Manchester or Liverpool (depending on the route I take). Hope to be there, with stops, around lunch-time. Hopefully Bill will have secured us a great spot again; not too close to the dance tent (or the perfumed toilets) but a manageable (drunken) stagger back.
Sutton Bank has one sharp hairpin bend - nowt to worry about.
But the road from Thirsk to SB is usually congested, and so I also prefer the caravan route. Much more interesting, and unlikely to find much traffic, let alone caravans.
Sutton Bank is pretty steep and for my little 125 laden up its a bit of a climb, although coming back down was fun!
Dik/XK.. what road number is the caravan route.. I know Bikerbill posted an alternative road one here somewhere, can't find it at the minute tho...
I know Bill will have the BM flag, but it's still a huge site and you could spend all day walking round looking for a flag amongst many.. so an arranged meet at a popular place would be good.
Which beer tent? There are normally three main bars. I'd suggest the real-ale tent, the one that normally has sofas in it, only cos I'll be in there hammering the Old Peculier by then
The caravan route...
From Thirsk take the A19 south signed York.
After 3 miles turn left to Coxwold.
Turn left at Coxwold to Wass, passing Byland Abbey.
Sharp right at Wass, to Ampleforth, and then bear left up hill to join the B1257 signed left to Helmsley. At the A170 turn right to Helmsley.
