Feret......see....?
Us 12 kids had bad eyes, we had to share me grandads national health specs a day at a time....can't see much atal now. But that never stop us having fun, playing on the bomb site looking for shrapnel.....me dad used to get £2 a ton on a good day. He could then get a bit legless before we found the UB. When we pulled that out he could have a couple more.....but it wernt that bad...being a generous geezer, he bought us a bag of damp crisps to share...but the salt had gone damp...thats where your salt would be handy please
you thought you had it bad Mr Neale well our weekend job was cutting up newspaper for loo roll, we didnt have toys we had a big metal ring and a stick and had to roll it along the road with a stick, but then it broke someone pinched the stick, ferrets whats a ferret we had a rat on a piece of string and had to walk that and it got fed better then we did it was our guard rat
NEWSPAPERS...? didn't know what one was until I was 21. We had to use leaves, mind you winter wasn't a good time!
RATS........? A delicacy, if we could find one. They wouldn't even go near our larder, in case they caught something and that was a hole in the ground.
A delicacy for us was the great hedgehog round up, we use to ride over the hills rounding up all the wafs and strays brand the ones we didnt need and sell the rest in the market place, have you ever tried to lasso a hedge hog vicious beast take your arm off they would, we would let them run free on the roads till they got squashed and brewed them in a stew, as hedgehogs have been dealt like this for so long this is why you see dead one's in the road
