Thanks guys, had a pm off a member with furbers number, have phoned and will do me complete engine and ECU for £500 + vat, think thats a good deal and they only 15 mile from me
Good Idea. Plus what you don't use you can re list on EBAY.
Seats, from, plastics , wheels etc. you could well recover the cost of the bike by breaking it.
Plus I know someone who has a trailer you may be able to borrow. you just need to be able to tow it.
Blonde question......Ive now been offered cylinders pistons and ecu from breakers in whitby for £150 and £10 delivery, but have phoned them to see if cylinders means block, they say yes, but is another name for block "head"?? He said if it is its another £200 Welcome to the world of www.wenders@confused.com lol
The cylinder head is the 'lid' that sits on top of the block, and carries the valve gear, sparking plugs etc. It may have been damaged in your breakdown, difficult to say without dismantling. The head costs more because it's got all sorts of moving parts attached, as opposed to the block which is just a chunk of carefully-machined metal.
think I'd go with the £500 complete engine and ecu option rather than messing around with 2nd hand engine parts.. also the deeper he delves when putting it back together the more he may find....
1) Can you please check all 4 spark plugs and what colour they are i.e. sooted or oiled?
2) Have you had a compression test done? (if so what was the reading?).....it should only cost £40-50 for a compression test and can help diagnosis
