Stupid people
Usqvarna U K! the people who supplied B & Q with the mower I bought 7 months ago.
I've only used the mower 3 times and it's dropped to bits.
I phoned B & Q and was told 'it's not our responsibility you'll have to phone the supplier'.
So I did, I was put on hold after a few minutes and giving details of the mower and my address and phone number and while on hold I was disconnected. FFS!
I called back...press button 1 for...etc etc for the second time and had to go thro all the details again, this time the customer service advisor put me on hold 6 times in 16 minutes, then I was told they aren't going to take the mower for repair cos they only deal in parts which they send to the customer and it's not a replacement part my mower needs.
Basically they've left me high and dry. I have a lot of garden and no mower!
They suggested I ring B & Q again and ask them if they will replace the mower as a good-will gesture!!
Usqvarna are the suppliers, it should be them replacing it, not B & Q.
I rang B & Q and was told to take the mower with my receipt and they will see what they can do.
Fingers crossed they exchange it for me and the next one lasts a bit longer, at least a whole season lol
I've never heard anything like it, sending the parts to the customer to fix for themselves!!
There is no reason why B & Q shouldn't replace it, its within 12 months and they are still legally responsible.
If they give you a hard time threaten them with trading standards it usually works. Good Luck
Kwak, I had this problem with a B&Q strimmer I bought years ago. Less than a year after buying it - they discontinued parts & spools AND it was one of their OWN makes.
Now - I stick to a name I can trust (Black & Decker)
I'm with Scary Kwak.Had exactly same problem with a hedge-trimmer,they tried to fob me off with all that crap they gave you, threaten them with trading standards if the manager doesnt help, within 12 months you have full rights!!!!
I agree with you Scary, but these days shops seem more reluctant to please the customer, not to mention I'm jinxed, if it can go wrong it will go wrong.
I wouldn't mind but I only got the mower out cos the guy next door and his mates were riding a quad bike up and down the street, and on the pavement, revving it, the noise was driving me nuts and I couldn't hear the telly so I got the mower out, you should have seen their faces, it makes a right racket
Tizzy you sound like you're jinxed like me.
"BY LAW" the retailer is responible for the supply of goods of "merchantable quality"
Phone B&Q and tell them that your "contract" was with them to supply a fully working product and by law they "MUST" provide a replacement or a refund!
The law was changed recently to "ensure" this.
As Scary says the trading standards are your best option, but you must give the "retailer" a "reasonable" oportunity to resolve the matter.
Best of luck Kwak
Em
ps you're only "jinxed" if you "think" you are!!!
PML, Em I disagree with your comment about jinx, I don't think cos that only makes it worse
Thanks for the advice folks I will tell them I want a replacement, I need another mower.
I'm with Emzed, HG and Scary, your first port of call should be the shop, and if if the item's under a year old you sound as if you're on very solid ground with them.
FWIW most of B&Q's own-brand stuff - Performance Power, McAllister etc - is Chinese-sourced via General Machinery Company in Australia. You might get somewhere by contacting them direct at www.gmcompany.com. Or there again, you might not!
A better bet for spares may be Solent Tools - just Google them. It's actually part of the B&Q empire, but at least it seems to be run by human beings and is a damn sight more helpful than the B&Q shops.
Em, for me to do that I'd have to believe it and how can I believe it when almost every day something goes wrong for me. I can't change my blood group.
Wills, the mower is a Flymo Compact 330 Hover mower. A known brand name. Solent? That's down South.
Em, if it's any consolation to ya I'm fairly confident I will get a replacement mower (you've not seen me when I'm in a mood lol)
Got up early today to wash/blow dry hair,no hot water! Went to the library to take back books,it was shut! Went to the nail bar to get nails done, shut! Went to town and the shop I wanted was shut! Stopped at 2 petrol stations on way home and no unleaded,grrrrrrrr....
