Back from a VERY blustery Barmouth (translate to a friggin maelstrom at night!) Had a fabulous time (of course) & it was great seeing everyone again - new faces included & I apologise if I didn't get to annoy....sorry chat to anyone
Pics will be uploaded soon...shame I didn't manage to get one of the gazeebo going for a stroll through the fields, or of our collapsed tent...or HRC's dead tent!
Got aback last night after a brilliant time. Lovely lovely sunshine, beautiful countryside and sea and brilliant company
The wind was definitely an unwelcome visitor though...the gazebo cartwheeling across the field, aiming skillfully for the gate and whizzing directly towards innocent family in caravan with very posh awning & vehicle will forever be etched on my brain they must have thought a ufo was crash landing on them lol....oooh and brave benny racing after it lol
On a more serious note I believe many friends who stayed over last night had tents demolished by the wind and my heart goes out to them. Hope all are ok x
Had a brilliant weekend.. special thanks to Minnie, Bry and Sharkey for getting me there and back.. and special thanks to some really kind friends who without them i would've been sat at home sulking. You're all great mates love you all lots
Like Minnie says, the gazebo cartwheeling was so funny..but not at the time! lol
I really hope those that stayed behind are ok and the tents are not badly damaged.. I know we had a few tent casualities the night before.
Have a safe journey home everyone....look forward to seeing you all again sometime soon
I've just spoke to Jackie. Apparently about half 2 last night everyone was chasing their tents across the field! People with iddy biddy tents weren't too bad but the bigger ones got the full force of the wind. Timeout went in his camper van & had to turn it into the wind as much as poss & then strap the whole van down to stop it blowing over! In the end they all ended up in the tractor shed singing songs!..Just hope it dies down for em riding home today..must admit it wasn't much fun for Al riding home yesterday 2's up fully loaded!
O!M!F!G!!!!!!!!!!
turned up on sunday morning to be greeted by a gang ready to leave on a ride out (excellent route by Peter27 by the way!) so threw my tent and kit on the floor and joined as tail end charley!
Then the evening entertainment provided mostly by BB and HRC!!LOL!!! Oh and Dave's interpretation of black jack!!!!"you cant end on any card unless i've got it" priceless!!
So retired to my Small yet firm hike tent to be awakened at about 0230hrs by shreiks of terror from the top of the field where the council estate had been dessamated by some strange Alien force field created in the Snowdonia National Park area 51 1/2, they had even driven cars over the tents and squashed the saucepans and left the place looking like half closing day in Beirut!!! Leaving the former occupants wandering around homeless, bewildered and cold!! One occupant even claimed to have been abducted and Probed by some Large beast in a silver helmet!! Strange markings and scortchmarks were observed in the grass near the devastated area and another occupant claimed to have experienced the smell of "burning Fish!"
A makeshift shelter was commandeered by Agent P27 and soon a mini soup kitchen had been established with UN aid From BJ&k ( a midlands based humanitarian aid organisation)promised!
Alternative accomodation was sought in the remains of the shattered site, The homeless were treated to a few hours Kip until the clean up operation began at about 0830hrs with specialist teams being called in from the RAC and MIB, the campsite and its occupants were then Normalised using alien technology from the planet BM5 leaving no trace of the anomolie!
Z out!
lol DO, glad everyone was ok - we saw you arrive, however we were packing up ready for going when you turned up - so HIEEEEE
....However, when you say all occupants were 'normalised'....do you mean as in 'Normal' Normalised or 'BM' Normalised?...just need to check this fact for when they return...can't have BM (basically mental) being 'normal'
Home safe and sound and feeling a little bit back to normal .
Still wondering if last night really happened, it was so surreal.
I've never experienced anything like it in my life. I wouldn't mind but it was the second tent that myself and HRC had to evacuate over the weekend lol.
Waking up at some god unearthly hour this morning with the tent flapping on my face was very strange! But as usual everyone mucked in and we got sorted.... in a fashion! Then as TDO said the clean up started this morning. Driving out of the campsite and seeing all the wrecked tents was a 'shaking of the head' moment lol
For all the new folk that attended, what an introduction.... will certainly be a weekend never to be forgotten
Pics uploaded
It was a fab weekend, apart from the scariness of last night and losing my tent as well as other people losing theirs but everyone helped each other out. Think I've stopped shaking now
Great to see some people again and to meet new ones
BB, big thanks for the lift there and back again, not sure how you managed today if you feel anything like I do
i did the sat at home sulking Karey, but i will get to one soon, so glad you all had a good time and are back safely, looking forward to seeing the pics
