Personally I found TPS very effective, I was receiving 5 or 6 cold calls a night and within a month or so of registering they had more or less stopped. The odd ones that do ring usually give up as soon as you mention TPS, as for the ones that don't well I regard them as fair game for my amusement.
A lad at work did the best one I have ever come across, he kept a conservatory sales critter on the phone for over an hour selling him a 20 grand conservatory, he agreed to everything including finance then when they asked him for his address for the surveyor gave them it - flat 616 heathcote tower. One very very upset sales critter.
my method is to pick up phone say nothing.if cold call leave phone.go play with bike a while they pay for call i aint listenin anyway check phone 15 minutes later while im here does anyone know who invented rumble strips?? name will garner a reward and painfull retribution to said party.they you know (them) are diggin up roads round chesterfield why not fill in some holes before diggin new ones?fork seals aint free!!i mean theres pot holes ina speed humps round here. gives me the hump could go caving down some of em. vengenge will be mine .im puttin a fatwa on these peps council offices may be targeted.names i need names reply to mr angry at the crowsnest
I too am sick of the calls we should not be having these intrusive calls whe we are paying for the line rental. I too am ex directory and up[ until the last 18 months had 6 adults living here so not only do I get calls for me its calls for my kids and Ex too.
I work shifts including nights. I choose to leave my phone ring on as I have an ageing mother I care for and I may be needed in an emergency from the careline that monitors her property.
Someone once told me that when that silence is apparant that to continually hit the Hash key on the phone and it confuses the callers system I am not sure if that is the case but thats what I do now.... It hasnt reduced the number of calls I get though!
There must be a solution and with Kwaks experience of the failure of improvement registaring with TPS maybe we need to for an active group and hammer westminster or some other body to get the peace we ask for!! Anyone game? I know a good lobbyist hehe!!
right tell me wot you think.. I went to look at a bike today in the auto trader for say £3999 ono so went along and was a relay nice bike and offered the bloke £3700 for the bike. the bloke then seemed relay offended and said he wasn't prepared to drop the price ??...did i get this wrong ?
No, most folk haggle over the price, he should have asked for more if he wanted more then when you came down he'd have got what he wanted. That's how it's usually done.
i agree kwak, if i am lucky enough to go to buy a bike, i try to take cash, as the sight of a load of wonga in your hand can sometimes make the seller come down a pound or two, as he / she does not want to see you walk away with all that lovely moolaaa
Unsympathetic and DEAF doctors are more worried about the government / job centre and what THEY want us sick folk to do than their patient's state of mind and well being
Doctor told me that I should get back on job seekers!! (yea. like the job centre have been really helpful to me in the past, I wanted to work but whenever I asked for help, for course fees to help improve my prospects or bus fares or whatever, I was told I didn't qualify) Now I'm not really fit enough to work but they don't recognise my incapacity.
It's frustrating, we can't even be sick now unless it's a broken leg or summat!! and even then we have to be nigh-on dead as well FGS!
I'm well hacked off that I'm made to feel like a skiver when I've done whatever I could to retrain so I could keep on working.
"Everyone goes on about Obama, but it was Michael Jackson who really put the black man on the map"
WTF?!!!
MLK? Mandela? Malcolm X? I guffawed (not often you get the chance to use that word in a sentence!) and expressed my unwelcome opinion on the numpties... who then proceeded to admit that OK, I had a bit of a point there (although one of them hadn't even HEARD of Martin Luther King and thought that Malcolm X was just a friggin' movie.... I really do despair at this!) ... but that I "couldn't deny that he was a 'musical genius' and that he was the first black man to make his mark on popular music"
Huh?!
Again, I say WTF?!!! What about Louis Armstrong, Little Richard, BB King, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix... but just as I was building up a nice head of steam and getting into full rant mode, rattling off names by the dozen, they buggered off mumbling that I was patently stupid for failing to recognise MJ's "true genius".
Ye gads!
The bloke penned a few nice ditties, was completely bonkers and spent most of his life trying to dye himeself white, so I hardly think he qualifies as a fine example of "black culture" or "black success". Genius?! I don't think so!
Yes, it's very sad he died at 50, but big, fat hairy deal. He's not the first bloke to die young and he won't be the last.
very well sed WB, and very true, personally i think MJ was more famed for his loonatic stunts towards the end of his life, and didn't do much in comparison to the likes of MLK, BB king etc
breath deep and ......exhale lol
Can you get a parking ticket for parking on rough ground beside a road with with double yellows. There was no other sign on the ground and the car was fully off the road so not causing obstruction
Yes you can, the local council had a purge on the road outside our office recently, a couple of people contested the tickets and lost as apparently the law is quite clear on this one. The only exception is if the land on the other side of the double yellows is private property and you are the landowner or have their permission to park there.
But talk about ignorant! FFS! How can MJ compare to the likes of MLK or yes, even Obama... The man's the first *not completely white* Pres of the US FFS! Not some jumped up loon who dances strangely and sings with a squeaky voice!
Don't get me wrong, I loved some of his tracks and don't deny that the man made some sort of contribution to pop culture, but ye gads... He was a long way off "genius" and I don't think yer average African-American in the street is going to turn round and mourn the loss of a great spokesman!
Hear hear WB , i totally agree with you and further to that , Obama has a universal journey ahead of him to come close to M L King or Nelson Mandela's humanitarian achievements ..King gave his life and Mandela was prepared to do the same for his beliefs (27yrs in jail) Where does any musician come close to these 2 giants of black causes !
Hey, Mick,.. me and a mate got parking tickets for being stopped at the side of a forestry commision road, (while looking at a job).
The road is rated at 44 tonne, and we've used it twice over the last 15 years. The di(PLOD)icus, that issued the tickets said we were 'driving other than on a road', (written on ticket). Both cars, mine an L200, and my mates, a Corsa van,... (obviously the ultimate off-road vehicle), were parked completely clear of the road and there was no road markings as it was un-surfaced!!!!!!
A complaint was sent to the complaints dept (for what good it did), and we still had to pay up.
mj should not even be in the same paragraph as the others mentioned....i only really liked thriller...apart from that his music made me feel like washing my you know whats with a cheese grater
