I've just contacted Applecross campsite - they are fully booked up for Friday 27th July and Saturday 28th July. Is there an alternative campsite please?

i spoke to them last night and they said at this point they arent taking any bookings for the saturday so obviously thats changed since just as a matter of interest since "wild camping" is allowed in scotland could we just not take over a bit of field somewhere close by?

found this on a wild camping forum..... Stayed on the beach at Applecross, near the church and Heritage centre.Lovely views across the bay. A bit wild when the wind blows and midgey when it doesn't. There is another area to camp on the beach with picnic tables, nearer to the village, where most peple seemed to prefer. It became very wet after rain, though. No problems further round, the ground just soaked up the torrential rain! we'll be ok if it doesnt rain! lol

let's see if I've got it right. The first campsite is booked up . The second and third campsites don't accept bookings. So i assume if they are also full on the day of arrival . We need to find our own campsite. I know it's easy to criticise and I've not contributed anything whatsoever. BUT. What the duck are you two playing at ? Lol

In response to your post Dusty, it is all detailed clearly, to confirm though - It's the last campsite that is booked up at Applecross. The first campsite detailed for Fortwilliam NEEDS to be booked - the 2nd at Ullapool doesn't take bookings because it is very big. I think i've found another one with good facilities that means we can take in Skye as well, however, i'm waiting to get confirmation on prices from them and YES it will need to booked. I'll have something on by the end of tonight. Mike that's great your coming xx Please add your name below if you are interested in coming along:- Definites paneurojim BOBKAT Shawy42 DaftUn kwakgirl Dustin666 Wenders Sharky92 Poshbird Kwak72 Guilty PleasureIanT1966 Mike99 Possibles Sumodwarf Riggy66 BobbyFrankenstein JohnnyG Maybeearthwind KWSIDEB Mickey Moo

I'd love to put my name down on the events page and I will do as soon as there is an 'organised' event to put my name too .
I would also like to book mi boy into the cattery without having to cancel later.
I want to book holidays at work and actually go on holiday.
As I understand it now . Campsite 1 needs to be booked . Campsite 2 does not .
Campsite 3 (fully booked) has been abandoned , in favour of returning to campsite 1 (needs to be booked).
You can tell me I'm thick you can tell me I'm awkward, you can tell me to 'stay in if I'm not happy'. All I realy want is for you to tell me WHERE ARE WE CAMPING AND ON WHICH DATES . ?

Ok folks as you know because of the Highland Games the Campsite at Applecross is now full and there isn't one with all the facilities near enough. What we thought we could do is leave Ullapool on the Friday travel down through Torridon take the coast road which has awesome single track twisties as well as double track roads, the views are spectacular, ride on to Applecross then take the Hill road back over to Kishorn. Then make our way to either the campsite back at Fort William (the first campsite) OR to Glencoe village and stay at Invercoe Highland Holiday park that's situated at the edge of the sea loch looking down towards Ballachulish. It has fully facilities, an under cover bbq area here is the web site so you can have a look at it, www.invercoe.co....uk post code PH49 4HT. There is a hotel serving food 10 mins away. It also means that we are on the homeward bound road at the edge of Glencoe for folk returning home either Saturday or Sunday. From there we there are a couple a nice ride outs, Oban being one of them, also over to Skye (Talisker Whiskey distillery) yes I know there is a pattern forming about visiting Whiskey distilleries hehe! The only issue with this site is, when I spoke to them last night all the self catering accommodation had gone, it is a smaller site than Fort William and they recommend we book. Depending on numbers she is sure we would all be accommodated. I would REALLY appreciate your constructive comments on what you would prefer. Once we decide which one then I will ask Sandi to kindly update the events pages. With the numbers that are definites, the owner at Invercoe is sure we can be accommodated, however, recommends booking a pitch at £9.00 per person per night. As you will see there is a good undercover area where we could have a final get together with drinkies and a bbq. I await your comments folks - thanks, Katie xxxx Please add your name below if you are interested in coming along:- Definites paneurojim BOBKAT Shawy42 DaftUn kwakgirl Dustin666 Wenders Sharky92 Poshbird Kwak72 Guilty PleasureIanT1966 Mike99 Possibles Sumodwarf Riggy66 BobbyFrankenstein JohnnyG Maybeearthwind KWSIDEB Mickey Moo

do you want to hold off a couple of days before making a decision i have a couple of possibilities i spoke to Jim about on the fone this morning - cant see point of Glencoe as it cant be more than 20 mls from fort william and id like to think you had already done the Oban/Inverary run while at FW - you can only ride the same roads so many times

News to me Debs, I spoke to Jim at lunch time and he never mentioned that or I wouldn't have put down about Glencoe. I totally agree about duplicating ride outs, it was only a suggestion if we hadn't already done those routes. I'll hangfire no problem - cheers Please add your name below if you are interested in coming along:- Definites paneurojim BOBKAT Shawy42 DaftUn kwakgirl Dustin666 Wenders Sharky92 Poshbird Kwak72 Guilty PleasureIanT1966 Mike99 Possibles Sumodwarf Riggy66 BobbyFrankenstein JohnnyG Maybeearthwind KWSIDEB Mickey Moo

Great trip being planned, did a highlands/East Scottieland tour last Easter.

Loved 'bealach na baa' spelling? (just make sure your tanks are brim full esp if you head North on the coast road out of Applecross lol).

Theres a good bar built in a boat just North of Fort William 'The Eagle' which is worth a look ;-)

Can also recommend Culloden Battlefield and the Nairn, Jedburgh, Scottish Borders route over towards the East side.

The ride from Fort Bill to Reading was a good days ride :-)

OOooh and the Green Wellie (?) at Tyndrum for the bike meet :0)

You're going to have a blast :-)

Maybe next year :-)
