september is fine by me , but its getting closer to the end of the year for you girls .. it might have even stopped raining by then .
i had to cancel training on sunday it was just too dangerous . roads were 1" deep minimum and 6" deep in many places .
2 students had there mod 2 tests today too . glad to say both passed with 1 and 3 minors , woo hooo
Think I'm ok for most of September at the moment too. Have to add, after reading RC's earlier post, i get really anxious when I think about going out on the bike too, gradually building up the closer the moment gets. I find it all disappears tho once I'm out on the road.
W.M.F. I've done thousands of miles on my bike I've done some really challenging roads with hair-curling hairpins and gradients. I've done epic long distances...but I've just had 4 weeks when I've not been out on my bike at all.
STILL (arrrggghhhhh!!!!) my confidence flees and that "feeling" that I can't do this comes back when faced with the prospect of just starting my bike and getting to the end of my road.
But the moment I face it and release the clutch.......aahhhh, then it's all ok, and I instantly remember how much I love it and I'm gagging to be away
I really believe that this is a particularly female approach to riding. I also believe that all us lady learners think it will go when we get our full licenses, but I'm not so sure
i am sure you will get your licences and llok forward to eventually getting out with you and as for for girlies, tut tut i have ridden in all weathers because when my kids were younger i had one weekend off a month and whatever the weather i went out on my bike
sometimes it was 3 am over the brecon sometimes it was closer to home
a ride to find a bikers cafe in south wales when it rained all day but give up (no chance we found the cafe and gor home for dawn slow but sure,
the day we decided it would be a good run to brighton for an overnight stop,
bristol and on to to a party and home the next day
gretna green for the day
scotland for a night out (wear in a new tyre)
newcastle brown for a pint of newcastle in said newcastle
eccles for an eccles cake no eccles cakes to be found
stick a pin in the map and see where u end up
York but it was closed (hahah)
horse shoe pass in the snow (oops)
snake pass and cat and fiddle in freezing fog (another oops)
all of it was great even though sometimes it was scary at times (being confronted with a badger heading straight for me at 2am after riding through storms in deep wales ahhhhhhhh but laugh almost to hysteria sometimes tee hee
w.m.f .. im thinking you live close enough to pop over any sunday anyway . its about 60 miles from you . you can either ride your own or get andy to bring you and use one of ours . what do you ride ?? and is mod 1 your next step .
buzz
Thanks for that offfer buzz, might just have to take you up on that. Have also had ragnar offer to come down on one of his days off to help me a bit.
Am riding a CBF125, and yes mod 1 will be the next step. Passed my theory test about 4 weeks ago.
I'd like to join this training. I'm going to my local training school on Monday for half a days training and I'm hoping to get through my tests within the next couple of months, but if I haven't done it by the time this is organised I think it would be a great help.
OK, the year is 2012
Is it the distance that's putting people off from making a commitment ?
Nowhere in Britain is so far away that it cant be reached quite easily in a day !
Essex is not the back of beyond !
The provision of training and it's attendant costs is set to escalate in 2013
And the current training setup as far as I can ascertain will be radically altered
In my opinion anyone who is "serious" about getting their test passed and having a FULL licence
Would make every effort to take advantage of this fabulous offer
Car sharing, hiring a minibus or even public transport are all options for getting there
I think buzz is "mad" to be offering ALL his expertise and facilities for a fraction of what it costs
Come on folks, please try to get some names on a "provisional" list
As I've said before
This is the best offer you are "EVER" likely to get !
Please, add your names to this list if you REALLY want a bike licence

lisa j i hope you enjoy your training and get that much wanted licence . thanks em for your continued support for this cause . "mad " maybe !!! .. just the other day i got a call from a 40+ year old female .. she passed cbt (3 weeks previous) but is too scared to ride her bike . she was recomended to us and told to give me a call. i took the precaution of taking her to our training area on the back of my bike while a another instructor rode her bike there . the poor girl had not been taught a thing , could not put bike on center stand / could not walk the bike safely / could not pull away under control or safely/ new nothing of basic machine checks / .. spending 3 hours just going through the basics :- what foot goes where and when and why/what brakes to use and when and why .. ect ect .. by the end of the session she was smiling and starting to enjoy riding rather than treating it like a chore . she commented at the end saying " i didnt realise that the previouse school was so bad you are so thorough and its all making sence now" ..I may be mad giving up my time for nothing .. but comments like that make it all worthwhile ..
can i add to that . This woman is a taxi driver and does alot of miles on the road , also got hgv licence . so she isnt a novice as far as road experience is concerned .. look us up on facebook and see student comments .. "rochford motorcycle training scheme" . like us if you want .
buzz
I agree with emzed that this is a truly fabulous opportunity and I think it's brilliant that buzz is offering to run this course.
But I also know that for me the distance is a real obstacle. I just haven't got enough hols from work left to spend 2 days travelling to do the course
I know I've been twining for months about the curse of having to get through my mod 1 & 2 tests, but now I'm virtually ready to take my tests and I had to weigh up the best use of money. For me, a few more lessons up here using my own bike is the best way to do it
It's lovely living near all this gorgeous scenery but it's such a bummer when everything always seems so far away...bet it rains less in Essex too
buzz just read you post about the lass and her so called training.
How the hell do these schools stay in the trade? are there no checks on them? As I see it thay are putting trainees lives at risk and giving the government the reasons to keep making the test harder.
This is just one more reason for BM Members to get in touch and book there training with you.
If it helps I have a 3 bike trailer I can lend so if there are 3 members with bikes and a car with a tow bar save on fuel go together and take your bikes with you.
That's a really generous offer JP
It might tempt some peeps
If I had a car licence I'd offer to do the driving
I'd even go round to pick em up
I'm THAT keen to see more ladies on bikes
Before it gets just too damned expensive and hard
Anyone that knows me, knows how MUCH I really want/need my bike licence.
This is my one big goal that I have been chasing for the last few years and I'm trying my hardest to achieve it. I did a DAS in 2010 using my redundancy money, but failed on the speed trap
That cost me £650 and I've been unemployed since then so had no way of affording taking the test again, but I've just got another job so hopefully come September I will have some money to do this.
The only thing holding me back is the money, I know it's a very good deal and I really appreciate the help being offered, but it still costs money
I am watching my finances like a hawk and if I can afford it, I will be there for definate!
Thanks again everyone who is helping to organise this, even if I don't get to do it, I'm sure you will be helping lots of others to get their licence
hi minnie , glad to hear your almost ready to take tests . up to only a few weeks ago we had a hose pipe ban down here .
jp . the dsa do check up cbt instructors . but they inform them when . so they just cancell the over subscribed students for that day and do the training correctly . Then go back to the bad practices again the next day . i quizzed the dsa manager about this and asked why they dont turn up at schools as stoogies to get a close look at whats really going on . he said " he would love to and they have tried to implement this. however it brakes a law somewhere "
so untill this law is changed bad schools will still get away with it .
