After the brilliant ride-out on Sunday through Shropshire etc, we're thinking of having a run through the Dales up to the Penny Garth cafe (great biker meet on a Sunday) at Hawes. The run will go through some fantastic countryside with a couple of excellent pubs on the way. I don't want to detract from this event at all, so we'll be leaving about1:30-2:00 ish. Hawes will be ideal for anyone travelling dahn sarf afterwards as it's just a 30 minute ride (straight roads) to the Motorway.
If anyone is interested, then let me know on the day.
The route (at this moment in time) will be as follows;
13:30 Leave Sun Inn
14:20 Arrive at the Blue Bell Inn, Kettlewell
(http://www.bluebellinn.co.uk/)
15:00 (ish) Set off from Blue Bell Inn
15:45 (ish) Arrive Penny Garth Cafe, Hawes
(http://www.pennygarthcafe.co.uk/)
Whatever o'clock - All go seperate ways
(times and road names correct when going to press)
For those travelling South, the B6255 will take you to Ingleton then either the A65 (Bradford way) or the opposite way through Kirby Lonsdale (Devils Bridge) then M6 North or the A687/A683 towards Morecambe and the M6 South.
Like I said, there's no way I want to hijack this event, but this will be a great ride-out especially if the weather's anything like yesterday.
Cassie & I will be heading this way anyway and hope to be home slightly earlier than the 9 o'clock we got home last night so anybody and everybody is more than welcome to tag along.
Anyway, I don't want to hang around a bloomin Theakstons Pub all afternoon when I'm riding *sulks*
oi ! even Dick Turpin wore a mask!!! tuts
ok...sounds good..but wot about ppl like me...that will probs be gettin there by car..
Does that mean you're all gonna desert me and leave me there like billy-no-mates?
Don't forget Hawes is also a magnet for PC Plod , last time i went , there was 6 plod cars in the space of as many miles , 3 marked cars and 3 un-marked scoobies one of which had pulled 3 sports bikes .
Aww Karey, we wouldn't leave you on your lone-some. You might even get a pillion for the ride-out and go back for your car later (just a thought). In our (me & our lass) opinion bike + sunny day = ride. Gives some of us a chance to get the wind flowing through our hair (if I get my Scary hand-me-down) lol.
I doubt if everyone would fancy the ride-out anyway, it's more just an offer of inviting people to join Cassie & me on part of our way home.
Dugald - IMHO if plod stop the eejits pulling wheelies on high streets and tonning it up on 'B' roads (ending up dead) then all the better.
And no, I'm not speaking about anyone in particular, but those of us on the ride-out on Sunday must've noticed the nutter pulling a wheelie outside the cafe and the plastic rockets going past us in a blur. Not to mention the 'Busa' rider who forced Drobess to move over when he overtook me!
Yes, I'll stand up and admit I sit at 90 on the motorway, but (to me) that's different.
Enjoy the ride and make it home safe!!
Aww Wannabe, was so sorry to find out we'd missed you,a few of us were actually chatting and wondering what happened to you. In fact thats the very reason why Blue has posted destinations and approx times for the ride out we're gonna do.
It's a good idea Cassie - a bit of planning and guesstimated timings help.
We had a lovely day out anyway, but it would've been nice to meet everyone! Must grab some phone numbers before attempting any more long distance meets
