I've seen people stripped naked, tied to the marquee pole, covered in all sorts of crap and just left for everyone to join in. One young bloke we saw wasn't happy at all so we untied him and looked after him the rest of the night. Not everyone likes it. Not wishing to spoil peoples fun here but ask first.
lets bring new blood into the biking comunity then totally humilate them that makes perfect sense how many i wonder dont go to another rally because of said deflowering
aww Ric and Punk.. the RV's ive seen have been .. 'mildly' humiliated.. and to be honest I think they have secretly enjoyed the attention. Most of them having made no secret that they are RV's in the first place. And as far as i am aware, they have all returned to rallies since. :o)
Of course I can't speak for everyone, but in the case of HFG.. wot can be toooo bad about getting a ride round the rally site on the back of a trike ..then gettin a go on a buckin bronco? Surely thats not too bad? I would like to think that if someone REALLY did protest or was really upset, then their mates would do the decent thing?!
* i reckon you two are secretly wanting a go...even tho i am 110% sure u aint RV's!* heheh
Karey i'm sure that some are up for it and to announce you an RV then its got to be expected. I'm talking about the ones who don't want it but their so called mates set them up.
Wasn't there when HFG got initiated so can't comment on that but sure she was ok.
Like i say not trying to spoil peoples fun, just check first for their sake and enjoyment.
And no myself and PD aren't RV's and no we don't "want a go".
What says you PD?
It seems to be a standard part of any grouping some form of initiation is commonplace amongst damn near every social grouping although the degree varies enormously. I have seen the same sort of thing done in factories, rugby clubs, an archery club, a climbing club, and a couple of bike clubs. There seems to be some sort of rite of passage to mark entry to most societies.
well if somebody doesn't mind being covered in sanitary towels and ridden round a rally site on a trike that's up to them but as RD says plenty get set up and do mind and i definitely don't want a go
prof you join a club you accept the rules you go to an event open to the public rules don't apply choice being the key and rally virgins don't always have the choice

Ricdude/prof,
I've had a bit of a laugh over the past week at peoples remarks about
my 'deflowering' but as i've said I don't like that kind of attention
and I can assure anyone that takes things too far they'll be minus a
few teeth after the event! I didn't 'announce' being an RV as I've
never had anything to do with rallies and didn't know about the
existence of the 'ritual'. I merely stated it would be my first rally!
ok ric and pd ..see your point guys... but like i sed... most know what its about.. and its usually, tho i admit not always, done in good humour.
I can't speak for the ones i dont know..but the ones i have known have been done in good spirit and have been a laugh.
And like you, Ric, If i saw anyone upset I would naturally help them out.. as im sure most people would, at the end of the day..its just a bit of fun..when it gets beyond that.. its not right.
Nice to see some talking sense at last.
RK - I'm with you on this one. Although I'm not sure about the missing teeth part - lol!
Kaz, I understand what you're saying but what's acceptable and in good spirit and a laugh to one person, could be totally overstepping the mark to another.
RK has made in known he's keen to avoid *deflowering* yet it seems to have egged everyone on further. Ok, he's joined in with the banter over it but if, when it comes down to it, he's not up for being manhandled or whatever else may be done - will everyone take heed or carry on regardless because they think it's right.
There was a lovely lady who was a member of BM last year... one of the first people I became friendly with.
She expressed an interest in going to a rally or a show and I said she'd be more than welcome to join me at various events I was planning to attend.
All was fine and dandy, until some complete numpty put the fear of god into her by telling her all sorts of bull about what would happen to her because she was a "rally virgin". Not only was she frightened fartless, but she was also disappointed in me, because I had not "warned" her what to expect and she believed me to be a friend.
I'm happy to report that I set her straight, promised that we'd share a tent and that should anyone decide she needed "deflowering", they'd have to get past me. No way was I going to let anything happen to her.
Now that girl had someone to turn to, someone she trusted to look after her. How many girls (or guys) hear these stupid stories and never go to a rally for fear of what might happen to them?
