There is a problem with that weekend in the Newquay area. The annual VW “Run To The Sun”. You can’t move on the roads around Newquay cos of all the Beetles and Campers, even on a bike. Took me nearly an hour to get from Porth to Newquay year, it’s only a mile. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p> How about a little further south and a little more rural? <o:p> </o:p> http://www.chycarne.co.uk <o:p> </o:p> Sea views, hot showers, bonfires allowed, £6.50 per person per night and they encourage rallys.<o:p></o:p>

akceller8, after you copy and paste you have to change the text to BLACK, even if it's already black, otherwise it won't show up. Highlight the text then click on the A and choose the black in the edit box.

Aww no apology necessary akcel' I wasn't telling you off, trying to help. Don't let it happen again tho eh? lol The moderators will have to do it for you, I don't have that facility as my tasks are different to theirs. Johnny, let me know if you need to edit the event in the calendar.

Another option of a campsite is www.gwithianfarm.co.uk I've got mates who regulary stay there in a large group and recomend it for accessibillity to surf and beer. Pub's across the road. It's situated just off the A30 at Hayle giving easy access.

Looks a bit posh steph, you sure they'd be happy to accommodate a field full of marauding bikers!

Ok we have had a few places suggested...... they are as follows.. www.thenorthinnpendeen.co.uk/index.htm<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> www.chycarne.co.uk/aboutus.html<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> www.gwithianfarm.co.uk<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> www.headlandcaravanpark.co.uk<o:p></o:p> Please have a look and let me know what you think, I do have a few points though, Cornwall is a good old drive from exeter, and once you leave the A30 it takes for ever to get some where...ie Redruth to 1 mile past Helston 30 minutes its 12 miles or so....and the back roads are a nightmare lol..... Weather ---- on the south coast it rains a lot don't know why but it does...always seems that it rains here you go up the A30 30 miles its dry and sunny hence the Newquay angle... So location needs to be accessable, take groups and not be so anal that we can have a giggle past 10 o'clock without complaints....oh and accept us scary bikers lol....Ideas keep em coming guys ..we will get there (bloody VW owners)

1. Gwithian farm has too many rules no riding a bicycle after 9.30, no driving after etc etc it is too victorian... 2. Chy Carne Holiday Park is good but it is right down on the Lizard peninsula and will take probably 40 to 1hr when you leave the A30 at Redruth. It takes me 20 -30 minutes to RNAS Culdrose thats on route. 3. Headland caravan park Tigantel seems ok very basic but adaquate (have e-mailed). 4. The North Inn Pendeen seems good, basic but good. (have e-mailed). 5.South Penquite looks very good and is a favourite, but it is on the edge of Bodmin moor (rain etc) but access ease of travel etc (have e-mailed) So kids thats as far as we have gotten if anyone has a good idea please pitch in.... but read the site rules for campsite for ie *No groups *only couples and families *no breathing after early evening O'clock, and we need food and drink.. you get the idea... so have a look and we will take it from there but can we have yeahs and nays please. Cheers John

Hi John Since most of the VW traffic will be heading in the same direction as us M5 and A30 would it be an idea to concentrate on the sites further west of Newquay. With luck we would get off the main drag if we headed for South Penquite or Headlands before we all get caught in the traffic further down. I know its only a difference of 10-15 miles, but from the descriptions of traffic problems on this post that could be another hour or more on the journey time.

Just been reading all the posts on this thread and its looking interesting, I won't be able to ride my bike that far still by then but being as my daughter is stationed down in Cornwalll I might just see you all there also I was only telling Mike last night how I would love to take him to Portreath soon. Something you might need to check with any campsite you are thinking of booking is do they have a minimum ammount of nights you need to book being as its bank holiday, lots of sites say minimum of two or three nights, also check if you can put more than one tent on a pitch before going because some sites have a twenty foot rule for fire safety. Don't mean to put a dampner on things its just things I have come up against when doing group bookings, also don't forget if one person does a group booking they might be also liable for insurance as an event organiser that is why any group event I organise now like the Bm Upton Barn meet last year I asked people to book themselves direct.

Yeah trike we are looking at east, south west etc, its finding a place that welcomes us crazy bikers...people have such a poor view of bikers...just waiting for a few places to get back to me..... A30 is a good fast road mate its very seldom got road works if any where will be tail backs it will be where it narrows to 2 lanes instead of dual carraigeway at Carland cross. We think Newquay is a no go as a local lad says its choka block in the town and surrounding area, so we are looking away from there see the web pages in the previous threads here we are below: www.thenorthinnpendeen.co.uk www.chycarne.co.uk/ www.headlandcaravanpark.co.u....uk<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> www.southpenquite.co.uk <o:p></o:p> What do you think mate?
