Wasn't confusin rattay. Not to me anyway. Quack, There's nothing to stop anyone doing a rideout on Sunday. Cordinating everyone that may want to go when they're coming from different parts of the country together with being parked in different areas. getting everyone to set off at the same time with the chaos that is MB on a Sunday without forgetting anyone will be difficult. I'm sure you'd be up to the task though.

It's my birthday Monday .... I'm going for a ride out on Sunday (West Dorset).... I guess you lot will still be prevaricating & pontificating on this thread, so I assume I'll be going it alone ....lmao ....

I'm with Kwak, thought it was just a day-trip affair rather than a camping thing. What about a quick run on the motorway and off to seaside? BJ I've sent you a PM about a possibility. FT, if we came down as far as Brean/Burnham way perhaps you could join us from your end for the day- not sure whereabouts you are but would save you being a "billy no mates" on your own ride-out? Anyone else have any thoughts on this as an alternative? Don't want to tread on anyone's toes, just thought I'd offer the suggestion.

Hey wow! just as an aside. Booked into a campsite in Brean, Saturday 10th July on the way to the ferry in Plymouth. Some of us midlanders need a break on the way down south, something to do with altitude sickness I think? Thought it was a coincidence anyway

I'm a bit confused now, it's turned into a camping trip?
Although I can carry a passenger and camping gear, I can't manage a passenger and two lots of camping gear.

I think there is confusion GB, it was a pilly ride out then someone mentioned the camping element in Matlock. I'm suggesting a day out only, no camping, Brean way simply because it's somewhere I want to go with the kids one weekend and I think there's lots there to suit everyone food/drink and seaside etc., plus not being too many windy roads and stuff for the pillies whether they be adult or people taking their older kids.

Gary theres no reason why people can't do a day trip to Matlock Bath.. and those that want to stop over, either camping or B&B can do so Vanessa...where abouts is Brean? Would it be a long trip for the Northern Crew?

The short answer to that Kaz is probably yes - it's by Weston Super Mare. All I was suggesting was that some pilly's may not be able to escape for more than just a day and may feel awkward if they think they are stopping any of the riders from camping because they have to come back? I don't know. I'm going to do a run to Brean anyway so I'm not fussed, just thought it might be nice to go to the seaside again rather than run to the pub lol

lol Cheers Vanessa! yeh a seaside run sounds good..and obviously we can't all get to meets/rideouts at the same time Matlock Bath has always been a popular BM meet as its kinda central.. but its still a long ride out for some. It would be good to get the Yokels out down Weston... stop them getting drunk on scrumpy! Maybe a Brean rideout for those than can ( and if anyone up here wants to pilly me.. i would go!! lol) and a more central meet that others can do. All in all it seems the pilly idea is a good one.. and thanks to everyone who has offered to pilly someone, so far

The only Brean I can find is near Weston-Super-Mare. 120 miles straight down the motorway from Brum, so not much good for a ride out with pillies really. Unless there's another one?
I'd be up for a camping trip to Matlock, as well as a "Pilly Offer Ride Out". But unless the possible stranger I have as pilly wants to share a tent with me, I don't see how we're going to combine them.

Gary....and i thought you were a hardened camper??!?! what's wrong with throwing a bit of tarp over your bike and knucking down for the night? ...or there's always the B&B?

I thought a steady motorway run would be easier on a pilly than a twisty route somewhere stopping and starting on A-roads, but then I've been around bikes a long time and can't remember how I would have felt originally. It may well be too boring? I really don't know. I just thought it may be a chance for an easy run and an opportunity for those members on here who don't ride to meet up with the rest of us somewhere fun. I'm glad I'm not an events organiser - too many things to consider lol

Well personally I would much prefer the twisty country roads... either on my 125 or definately as a pilly.... I HATE motorways, especially as a pilly cos you're usually tucked in and either watching the white lines flashing by...or asleep! lol

Definately not to brean, its 165 miles each way for me, thats about 5-6 hours riding. Not a day out

At the other end of the spectrum, Matlock is only about 25 miles each way, hardly worth warming the bike up.

This is going to be the problem though, someone will be close and someone far away wherever is chosen.

Some suggestions .........
Hunstanton?
Stratford on Avon?
Stow on the Wold?
Rhayader?
York?
Monmouth?

As Karey says, being on the back down a motorway is very boring, white lines and the back of somebody else's helmet all the way.But it's also much higher speed than A roads, and potentially far more scary for people who've never been pillion before.A gentle plod along some relaxed country roads sounds better, such as the trip to Matlock up the A515.

Not interested in Matlock at all, its ok for you brummies, but not for me living in Derby, plus theres all the hassle of getting parked together etc on a Sunday in Matlock ...... nah

Not scary on the motorway, but oh so boring for both

I can see all points here and as said before that there is always probs with this sort of thing, im more than happy to take a child or adult on a bike on a motorway as there is less chance of them moving about just as you going into a corner and puting you off balance. I can see that matlock is central for most but there is no reson why we cant do both, there are plenty of pillies around here in the mids to fill the bikes from here, and there are plenty of pillies around the north to fill there bikes for a run to the coast near to them. as kaz has said matlock is central but if you live in devon or scotland its a long way, so I think we cant just leave this up to BJ to sort out its up to local events teams to get there act together and do more. So BJ can sort out a BM meet at mattlock or another local point and the north /south/east/west/mids can sort out coast run if thay wish, I would be happy to run down to brean and meet up with the S and S/W BM members
