ooo dangerous el, matts already highlighted there are NUTTERS out there and I don't mean nice nutters like us lot I mean DANGEROUS ones and if its your site you the ones that get prosecuted for idiots postings so please be careful mate.

As for Forum v Chatroom forum chats can continue and can get less silly than trying to keep up with half a dozen conversations going on in chatroom and for someone like me who keeps silly hours we can still belong

Storm, that's exactly my point!!!! Events end up 5 pages in because of all the other dribble that gets posted. Posting little laughs within topics is ok, but its not ok to start a NEW TOPIC saying good morning to somebody, etc. Its these new topics thats pushing other more important ones back. Also, a LOT of people have complained about how "clicky" it is and they feel like they're "butting in" to others' conversations. This shouldn't be the case. Me and Di also have to read ALL the posts as well, about how cold it is and about how many jaffa cakes you have/haven't eaten! I dont want to tame everything as you say, nor do i want to specify the only subjects. The forums are here for everyone to discuss things, anything, just not crap nonsense. You'll notice that I've left the "jokes" thread, cos i think its good. Its also good to post humour within the existing topics. Humour is funny, but plain nonsense about John Smith's breakfast (not a real example) DOESNT warrant a "New Topic" I don't think - correct me if you think im wrong. Too shy for chatroom but not for forums? I dont get that, sorry. I'd have thought the forum was worse, as your message stays for thousands to see. FINE - post whatever you want in the forum, but NOT NEW BLOODY TOPICS ABOUT HOW BIG THE STONES ARE IN YOUR FRONT GARDEN. Keep it real for Gods sake and not crap, because it's putting other people off. Keep the chit-chat if you like, cos i know you crazy lot wont stop lol, but Im sick of visiting the forums to find FULL PAGE of new topics that are just ridiculous. Most of you don't even see the drovel that I DELETE, because it's so bad and I get rid of it before you can see it and say "What the friggin hell is this all about, what tosh" etc. We're loosing members because of it.

PS: does anyone want to volunteer themselves for the 2,000+ emails per day that I have to read? Not to mention the PMs. All the members who can't log in, people struggling with certain features, people who can't read the help page, people who want to complain about other members who are stalking them, people complaining about the measures I put in place to protect them from the stalkers, people who just write general annonymous abuse (Like "matt you..."), people who can't upload photos, photos to check for those who can, profiles to check, new user accounts to check, stats to filter through, advertising to arrange and pay for, databases/files to backup, 500 forum posts of mainly nonsense to check for abuse.... the list is endless. Put yourself in my shoes next time you think of starting a new topic about how your cat has decided to loose hair this morning, or that your driveway needs a wash, etc

Oh I know that the forums are friendly and welcoming, DEFINITELY so! I've never know forums like it (Bike Chat included!). We jump on new members here like.. i dont know what. BUT - the majority of the new members WONT post. And when I email people who leave the site asking why they left, its either because they found someone or they thought the site was "too clicky". I'm not making this up RC, I'm just relaying other member's emails and trying to plan for the future. Please do keep the banter and humour going, its excellent. Makes the forums feel great and I wont deny that. But keep the weather talk and "good mornings" to the chatroom. If people are on at the same time and are able to say "good morning" to each other, then they should be heading over to the chatroom for a chat. Some topics are turning into a 1-to-1 private chatroom and it's not always fair on the original topic starter who might have wanted a proper discussion about an issue. I've been running forums for years now, so you have to trust me on this. You must start to see the bigger picture and how it's affecting the site. Yes it's great for those already involved, but it's putting people off joining in FACT

yea got to admit that its nice to see the site being used, especially as I created it. Its great to see people meeting each other, and just generally having a laugh online. Its not nice receiving emails from people telling you that its not working, saying its "too clicky" etc. Makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong in running the site. Might also explain why it's only a small handful of people who subscribe and not even 3%!
