If 12 persons are crossing at the same time there will be a small discount if all paid together. But the ferry can only take 9 bikes max?
I think it means same time as on the same day, not all on the ferry at same time?
Think i'm off work the week leading up to this so may have a few early days hols up scotland prior to this,,,ELL's will have to wait till 2013...

I emailed calmac last week about the group discount & peeps definitely have travel on the same crossing.
The reply:
To qualify for Group Rates there must be 12 or more paying passengers who are part of a recognised organisation or charity travelling on the same route/dates and times and must be purchased as one transaction. If there aren't going to be 12 or more people booking on each crossing then I'm afraid you wouldn't be entitled to group rates.
Not terribly helpful are they
Katie has got a good deal on the camping so probably better to forget the ferry discount,,,too complicated,,,peeps could be arriving different times as no point in group meeting before hand due to 9 bikes on ferry only.....I'll be booking as soon as summer timetable is out...........

If you plan to do your journey over a couple of days and make your way up to me in Kendal, then you could stop over at mine and ride with me cos I really feel I'm ready and I want to do this ride.
I sort of know the route north and would be insisting on lots of breaks lol

Sandi, Craig is right it needs to be on the one crossing so even though 9 bikes would count pilly's to make up 12 - it is a bit complicated to get the right number at the right time

i,m thinking of going up to Oban and coming back down the coast road to take the Claonaig/Lochranza ferry to the island, than coming back on the Ardrossan ferry and down the A77 by Stranrear on the way home

have last years price Bob will get new when they are out, 2 single crossings one from Claonaig and one to Ardrossan works out about the same as a return from Ardrossan, but i fancy riding down that bit of the west coast, last time i did it was in the dark after midnight and raining so thought i'd try it when i can see a bit more
Hi Bobkat, Happy belated birthday Does this event involve us meeting up before Arran or on Arran??? and can you confirm as I am a bit dense i know.....is it from the Friday to the sunday or to the Monday?????? Cant wait I love Scotland my grandad was Scottish so always had a soft spot for it. xxxx
