First of all there has been a few things said about 'outdated image' of if girl is pillion, well not really....yes lots of women have bikes but majority are guys....don't think I have met or heard of a guy on here who doesn't have a bike....also I haven't seen a guy pillion with a girl, but plenty the other way around......
What I'm trying to say let's not start the political correctness bollocks that seems to creep in to these things, keep it majority, ie most of us fit the typical bill....so let's leave the female equality and minority stuff along and if the design is a guy with a female pillion well that is the usual not the other way about....so let it be....
Matt, can't we set up our own photo to form the logo somehow then convert if to a mono line drawing for printing. I have access to a studio in Peterborough at reasonable cost which has enough space to get bike(s) and people in and still have room for the studio strobes. I'm thinking along the lines of two bikes facing each other wheel to wheel with a male and female rider and sonehow incorporate the B and M over the front mudguards.
Johnny, when I mentioned 'outdated' image that's exactly what I meant, nothing to do with political correctness or gender equality.
That said, this is the noughties not the 1950's, I'd like to think, that as a society, we've moved on from the chauvinism of that 'little woman' era.
I think the BM logo should be appropriate to ALL members, hence my comment about not using a helmet.
Altho I don't recall his name there is one member who doesn't have a bike and is seeking a pillion with a female, and I know of a couple of male members who don't have their own bikes. (I read a lot of profiles)
I aint burning my bra for anyone!!
Well I think the little woman image is well out dated as most of us have let them have a dish washer so there not chained to the sink and have more time for cleaning dusting and cooking.
Q, How far can I run before Boss Mom catches me
A, Not far
Well, this my point you recall 3 guys without bikes....you don't recall how many women by any chance, its not about the 'little woman thing' its just generic and well normal.....Shape along with colour are representational of the gender of a woman as shape someone said name a colour you would associate with a woman, what would be the first 3 colours in your head.........????? i rest my case of a how about line art two bikes with the letter B and M on the seats.
Either in line one in front of tother, or any direction angled wheels together etc....
seems the moto of KISS should run true.. K. Keep I. IT S. SIMPLE S. STUPID
the more colours and intricate the design the more problems you'll have.
Oh yeah the first three colours for a woman for me is Pink, white Purple.
IMHO i can't see anything wrong with the biker match logo presently except maybe it needs updating graphically.
It's not sexist, gender orientated, opinionated etc and say's exactly whats in the tin.
the current logo isn't really a logo - its just the name over a Union Jack flag.
However, people want logos for t-shirts which only says BM on. We also need something that people remember.
I like the idea of 2 silhouettes from behind, one male one female, riding bikes with the B and M in the number plates. Could do that I'm sure. Just how to make the gender apparent in black and white.
I'm going to my friend's house right now and we're making the design tonight! :-D
It's good for many reasons... mainly that it's a vector image and we can enlarge it a million times for big banners, or a little for t-shirts etc and never lose quality. Also the banned can be shrunk to just say BM
Not sure on the Green man! And will the text be altered to BM for t-shirts etc? Loving the look though
Oops sorry, just re-read your post, yes the text can be shrunk!
I can see where you are going with this Matt, but it doesn't say "biker" to me. The two figures are okay I suppose but where is the link to the site or its members. Can't we have a bike in the middle of the banner. (Right in the middle so there is no debate over who is the rider/pillion)
