51 Only photos clearly identifying the member
35 Photos of member or with partner only, not big groups though
8 Photos of anything, I'm not bothered
0 Photos of member *OR* his/her bike (without the person on!)
0 Photos in groups, but only of people. Unable to identify who the member is!

But what about all these profiles without pictures? Good question Saffie, IMHO profiles without photos shouldn't have any access to post to the forums or chat room. I like to see who is corresponding/chatting with me.

So perhaps for those full members without photos(as per site rules) mods can knock them down to standard specs i.e no access to chat/forums until they comply. Having been sent the obligatory warning p.m of course.

Sadly, for me, Red that wouldn't work, as paying members wouldn't be treated that way. In an ideal world I think that when a person registers to be a member it should be made clear that 'no photo, no access' and paying members profiles will only be activated when they have a pic of themselves on their profile. After all it's not BLIND dating, and even those who just want to socialise would prefer to see who they are going to be meeting. But, like I said, that will never happen. Paying members would leave if forced to downgrade.

This may explain what is the Haggis.

The Haggis, King of the Pudding Race (Struthio c. tasties, now all but extinct throughout Great Britain) is rare enough to have inspired many legends some of which are as ludicrous as the mythical "Hard-Working Banker" and the "Civil Servant". What follows here is purest truth.

The haggis is a beast of immense poetry, with a soul so deeply in tune with nature that its mating call haunts all those who have heard it.  The beast sheds tears of purest whiskey as it sings, and strong men have been known to cry at the sound. The song is so heart-wrenching that it is said to have made strong women compliment one another's shoes... sincerely.

The haggis seeks peace. Once such has been achieved, it sighs out its last song and crosses over into infinity, leaving behind a blessed treasure trove for the native hunter. The sounding horn/skull of the haggis is fine as crystal and contains the last of the beast's un-cried tears. This blessed potable is said to be the liquid that inspired the gods to create wine.

In the past, the skin of the beast was cured and used as an invincible armour, the kilt, literally girding the loins of warriors. Since the warriors guild and the tanners guild together are vastly outnumbered by the Scottish Sisterhood of Spinners, Weavers and Loomers, this armour has been replaced in common usage by a fairly itchy wool.

The dried skin and bones are sometimes re-inflated and carried about by worshippers, intent on recreating the Haggis' last song. While a scattered few respect this for the tribute that it is, many consider the act sacrilegious and ban such performances from their neighbourhoods, public causeways and senior's residences.

The innards of the haggis, a natural condensation of the animal itself and its environment, is a delicacy beyond compare. The traveller who comes upon a haggis in time to hear the final note sung must quickly avail himself of this delicacy before it spoils. After even a few seconds, the magic is gone from the repast, and what remains is just plain offal.

If folk choose not to upload a pic thats their choice, as Mods we do contact them and let them know that they will get more reaction and interaction if folk can see who they are talking to.

It is mainly standard members who are just looking around the site deciding whether to join or not who have no pic.

Either way its down to each individual to choose or chat back :)

when was the last time anyone posted in the forum without a photo? I can't even remember!

Point is: it's not such a big problem! Most members have a pic of themselves before they post in the forums. For such a small problem, the dramatic fix of "no photo, no access" would mean that Google, Yahoo etc CANT INDEX THE WEBSITE because you can't make a search engine login and upload a photo.

The more of the site that gets indexed by Google, the better. It's how we bring in new members

Think i would rather have my teeth pulled without pain relief than have my photo taken, hate it, having said that i will get one done and stick it on my profile, it is about time i got my backside into gear i suppose. Going to Brekkie at Rye sunday will take my camera & will get one of the others to do the deed. Regards Dave

Oh dear. I'm in a minority. Well I'm proud to be one of 8. Why do faces matter so much?

Dave, is it that you don't want your photo online for a specific reason? Or that you just don't have a photo of yourself? If you was (maybe you are) using the site for dating, would you be happy trawling through pages of pets and bikes in the search results, not having any idea who the member is? Doesn't help as a dating site that does it?

Lawnmower, it's all about making the site useful for it's purpose. Not everyone uses the site for dating but most do (to begin with at least). So they want to see who the member is in the main profile pic so they can skim through the 50,000 profiles easily. If they can't see people (just bikes, dogs, houses etc) they will get frustrated, leave and never subscribe. The site will die fast because of lack of funding to promote it in mags etc and then bye bye BM

I know Matt, but I think people should be given a choice. At the moment the choice is pic of face or no pic at all.

But like I said - I'm in a minority, and it's a democratic site. At least I got the choice to vote.

Just wanted to have my lil say!

Had my first meet at Rivi Barn 2008 not long after I'd joined BM thankfully Wills was there (true to life profile pic) wouldn't have found anyone else, could have stayed Billy no Mates and left the site instead I've made a few. So I'm in favour of profile pics showing me who looks like who, not really interested in talking to a horse/cat/dog/bike or whatever.

Matt, i don't mind having my photo online its not that, i just don't have any of myself as i am now, i think my newest photo has got to be around 10-15 years old now so it is not representative of how i look now. I just don't like having the photo taken. But as i said a photo will be forthcoming, hopefully i won't make a pigs ear of getting it uploaded as i am a complete & utter computer dumbcluck Regards Dave
